Job Title – EMF Engineer Location – Bengaluru Career Level – 8 Summary: We are seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in RAN Hardware Planning and Design to lead and provide expert-level guidance on hardware solutions, specifically for antennas, combiners, baseband systems, and small cell technologies. The SME will oversee the technical aspects of hardware development, including the prototyping, validation, and integration of hardware solutions to meet performance, regulatory, and environmental standards. As an industry leader, the SME will drive innovation, ensure compliance with regulatory standards like EMF/ICNIRP, and mentor senior engineers while supporting new product development. Roles and Responsibilities: • Oversee the complete governance process to ensure compliance with EMF legal and regulatory standards, driving adherence to national and international guidelines. • Function as the design authority to ensure all small/microcell installations comply with EMF regulations and safety standards. • Represent the company in multi-operator design forums, contributing to discussions on network safety, compliance, and EMF standards. • Provide national-level EMF compliance guidance to internal teams, ensuring that policies and procedures are in place for safe network deployment and operation. • Lead national concession forum reviews, ensuring EMF-related issues are promptly resolved. Coordinate national-level resolutions for EMF concessions. • Serve as the principal contact for national escalations related to EMF issues, coordinating investigations, and ensuring that all issues are resolved to maintain compliance and network safety. • Collaborate with internal teams, external regulatory bodies, and third-party vendors to ensure that EMF compliance is always maintained. Provide technical support and expertise on EMF-related queries. • Oversee Passive Intermodulation (PIM) mitigation processes and ensure the application of best practices to minimize PIM-related issues in RAN hardware designs. • Provide expert advice on PIM management during the installation, commissioning, and operation phases, ensuring proper integration of hardware to reduce interference and improve network performance. • Ensure PIM compliance with industry standards and work with design teams to proactively identify and resolve potential PIM-related issues during site deployments. • Lead efforts to mitigate PIM through optimal antenna design, isolation techniques, and RF conditioning strategies to ensure reliable and interference-free operation. Technical experience and Professional Attributes: • Extensive experience in RAN hardware design, with a deep understanding of antennas, combiners, baseband systems, small cell technologies, and PIM management. • Expertise in EMF/ICNIRP regulations and their application to RAN hardware design, as well as knowledge of PIM mitigation techniques. • Proven ability to lead complex technical challenges and provide strategic direction for hardware solutions. • Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills to liaise with internal teams, external regulatory bodies, and vendors. • Experience in leading multi-operator forums and coordinating EMF compliance and PIM mitigation efforts at the national level. • Ability to author and maintain national-level approved documentation for antenna configurations, isolation guidelines, and PIM management. • 12+ years of experience in RAN hardware design and wireless communication solutions. Educational Qualification: • 15 Years of Education, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
