CORE and Global Services (CGS) is a group of legal professionals working and supporting different legal areas such as Compliance, Regulatory Offerings, Ethics, Procurement, Corporate Matters and the Services Areas aligned with the new offerings and technologies such as Strategy & Consulting, Interactive, Technology, Security and Operations.

Ethics & Compliance Role Summary – To support and assist the Ethics Team. Specifically, the following programs within Ethics: Joint Ventures & Acquisitions, and Personal Conflicts of Interest when required by the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Generic Responsibilities

  • Understand the CORE areas

  • Understand relevant company policies

  • Develop subject-matter expertise in the concerned support area

  • Act as a POC for support area

  • Understand and suggest process improvements in the support area

  • Support LTO/CIO in development of new tool or enhancement of existing ones

  • Assist team in drafting checklists and process documents

  • Directly liaison with internal stakeholders on various issues

  • Manage SharePoint and communication records

  • Identify and support any specific trainings for the team

  • Support implementation of new initiatives in CORE support area or within Legal/GLN

  • Build credible and effective relationships with onshore counsels and within GLN team

  • Support recruitment efforts for the team

  • Supervise resources, and assist GLN Team Lead in people management, as required

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior members of the team

  • Provide individuals with positive and developmental feedback

  • Try to ‘give back’ to GLN/Legal

Specific Responsibilities aligned to Role

For V&A (full-time)

  • Send COBE Welcome Letter Communication to the correspondent contacts for each different project

  • Update the status of the letter into the tracker

  • Save a copy of e-mails sent or screenshots which contain the Ethics Letter to employees

  • Have weekly calls with Compliance and Ethics Counsel Manager

  • Include and update the projects in the PMI tool accordingly

  • Initiate and follow-up on different compliance actions provided by SMEs

  • Keep the project plan updated

  • Keep the Teams site updated

  • Initiate and follow-up on compliance actions provided by SMEs

  • Monitor the team’s mailbox

  • Request PMI input and follow up with SMEs

  • Gather Due Diligence documents for the different deals

  • Be a point of contact for Legal Integration Leads and SMEs

  • Support ongoing process improvements

For Conflicts of Interest (part-time back-up)

  • Have regular checkpoints with the team

  • Manage the mailbox

  • Answer inquiries received directly by e-mail

  • Receive new requests

  • Summarize new requests and assign them to counsel

  • Send weekly follow-ups

  • Work on the constant improvement of the tool

  • Gather information and put together metrics for the Program

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (non-exclusive).

  • Compliance related global professional certification considered a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a professional capacity.

  • Travel may be required

  • Fluency in English (and other language, depending on geography supported) with excellent oral and written communication skills

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Good experience in generic/legal research and reporting, including project management skills, especially in the ethics and compliance area would be a plus

  • Demonstrate proactiveness, promptness, accuracy and consistency with the activities supported

  • Demonstrate autonomy, take ownership, and drive tasks to closure

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills

  • Detail-oriented, sound judgement, organized, and adaptable

  • Strong time management, prioritization, and analytical skills

  • Able to work with internal and external teams to assist with day-to-day support, and be a good listener to understand delivery requirements

  • Understand general basic corporate business practices and commercial agreements, legal and compliance principles

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

  • Comfortable with technology and has experience in the use of tools & databases

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver results with exposure to senior leadership

  • Effectively manage priorities and stakeholder expectations

  • Build trust-based relationships by delivering on commitments

  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of legal jargon and an ability to provide appropriate advice

  • Able to effectively influence senior leadership
