Andersen Corporation is seeking a self-motivated Materials Technician to support an energetic group of Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) Engineers that lead projects focused in the areas of Accelerated Weather Testing and Packaging Testing.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Set-up and operate tests, perform measurements, photograph defects, complete root cause analysis of test failures, and document using Microsoft Word or Excel.
- Work independently with direction from engineers to test materials and units in support of their project work
- Prepare samples for material testing using saws and other shop equipment
- Follow established or help develop new procedures to test materials
- Record and organize test results for engineer to review
- Work effectively as a team member and manage multiple priorities independently
- Communicate progress on assigned work to achieve required timelines
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment
- Follow required safety, ergonomic, and environmental procedures
- Work cooperatively with engineers to complete their projects and give input on issues uncovered during testing of products
- Build test fixtures using appropriate materials and tools
- Other duties as assigned
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and customer focus skills
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong aptitude in analysis and problem solving
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated ability to work with hand and power tools
- Able to work flexible hours to support testing assignments
- Must be able to operate power industrial trucks (forklift, pallet jack, etc.)
- Must be able to operate typical laboratory & shop equipment (miter saw, table saw, drills, calipers, etc.)
- Strong math, science, mechanical, and experimental skills
- Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem-solving
- Strong interest and basic aptitude to work in a technical or scientific field
- Basic knowledge of window and door products
COMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $27.25 - $39.55.

PROFIT SHARING: In 2025 Andersen has set a profit sharing target of $3,500 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
