Team Overview
Applied Material's Common Systems Software team develops the software for the control system of semiconductor process equipment. This includes developing interfaces for advanced sensors, designing the data and control flow, creating algorithms for the optimal material engineering on an atomic scale and the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps, and flow controllers. Other aspects of our work include the design of the user interface, data collection, storage and analysis, machine learning and analytics, remote access, and security.
Key Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and develop complex software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices
Design common software modules and libraries for use across multiple products
Troubleshoot a variety of moderately difficult software problems and design and implement bug fixes
Suggest and implement improvements to the development and troubleshooting process
Define software specifications
Develop software documentation
Contribute to technical review boards for assigned programs
Interface with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, project schedule and software troubleshooting
Technical Skills
Proficiency and experience in C and C++ required
Programming experience in several of the following areas desired:
Real-time Control
Motion Control
Embedded Programming
I/O (synchronous and asynchronous)
Multi-threading, performance profiling
C#, .NET
gRPC, REST, TCP sockets
Visual Studio
Source Control
Matlab
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Master’s Degree preferred.
$35 - $41 per hour
The rate offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and education level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
