As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑level software solutions for industrial automation systems.
- Lead software architecture, design, and refactoring initiatives to ensure scalability, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
- Develop applications using C++ and C# within Visual Studio environments.
- Create and manage relational databases using C# (including academic or early‑career experience).
- Design and implement graphical user interfaces (GUIs), including HMI applications.
- Contribute to MES (Manufacturing Execution System) development activities and integrations.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional and global teams to deliver complex, high‑impact projects.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive technical enhancement activities.
Required Skills
- Expertise in object‑oriented programming, software design patterns, and refactoring methodologies.
- Solid proficiency in high‑level programming languages, preferably C++ and C#.
- Experience working in Visual Studio environments.
- Strong understanding of relational database design and development using C#.
- Solid command of English (spoken and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and object‑oriented programming principles.
- Experience in developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
- Previous exposure to MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) is considered an advantage.
- Experience with relational SQL databases.
- Understanding of industrial automation concepts and experience with drive systems.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as computer science, information management, software/system engineering, cyber security or mathematics
