Job Description
Position Summary
Ares is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player to join as a Private Equity Associate in Houston, TX. The Associate will be tasked with supporting the Energy portfolio with a wide variety of analytical tasks and functions.
We are looking for self-motivated, intellectually curious individuals who are comfortable executing tasks, but also seek to find opportunities to improve the way we operate. The ideal candidate will be proficient in in financial analysis, possess strong business acumen, and a desire to learn and develop new skills by working within various workstreams as necessary in a collegial, fast-paced, and demanding environment.
Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities
- Construct, refine, and manage complex Energy portfolio level financial models
- Facilitate the creation of comprehensive, detailed valuation analyses, scenario reviews and other materials to help guide decision-making
- Identify and prepare analyses on areas of potential growth within investments that could enhance value creation in the Energy portfolio
- Participate in strategic transactions, refinancing and monetization across the Energy portfolio
- Collaborate closely with management teams to analyze the operating performance of portfolio companies
- Work hand-in-hand with members of other Ares PE groups to aid in the construction of portfolio management and IR materials
Qualifications
- 2 – 4 years of investment banking, corporate level FP&A, or other similar roles
- Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Finance, Economics, or related field of study
- Interest and knowledge of the energy industry
- Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Focus on producing high quality, accurate, easily digestible deliverables
- Well-organized with ability to quickly prioritize tasks under demanding timelines
- Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills required
- Attention to detail with excellent editorial and review skills

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
