About the Team:
The Ares Corporate Communications team covers a broad scope of responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The team is responsible for strategic planning and execution of external, internal and digital communications efforts across Ares’ global platform. Within Ares, the team works closely with a range of internal partners, including executive leadership, investment professionals, legal and compliance. Members of the team also serve as company spokespeople to media and regularly engage with a variety of other external stakeholders.

About the Role:
The Vice President of Corporate Communications in APAC is a key member of the Ares Corporate Communications team and reports to the Co-Heads of Corporate Communications. This newly established role will lead communications efforts for Ares’ activities across our business operations in APAC, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to drive external communications efforts, proactively tell the Ares story and protect the Ares brand.
This role will focus primarily on Ares’ profile raising and external communications in APAC but will also be responsible for providing on the ground support and collaboration for internal communications and digital/social media efforts.
Ares’ Asia business is considered one of the largest alternatives platforms in APAC across credit and equity with over 200 professionals and more than $15 billion in assets under management, as of June 30, 2024. The firm operates 13 offices across APAC, including offices in major markets such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, New Delhi, Mumbai and Shanghai.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Ares’ communications efforts in APAC with a focus on external communications.
- In partnership with the broader Corporate Communications team, help develop and drive a cohesive, strategic approach to media engagement, corporate announcements and speaking opportunities.
- Work with the team to maintain and strengthen relationships with key media across top-tier financial and relevant trade outlets in APAC.
- Manage potential reputational issues for Ares and/or its portfolio companies.
- Liaise with global colleagues, particularly internal and digital communications team members, to drive key messages to external and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee sourcing, hiring and day-to-day management of PR firms to further Ares profile raising in the region.
- Draft, edit and collaborate with senior leadership, investment teams, legal and compliance to prepare event-driven communications materials, including press releases, talking points, media statements and other briefing materials.
- Collaborate with senior Ares investment professionals, as well as fund and public investor relations colleagues, to develop external thought leadership campaigns and materials. This may include white papers, short-form Q&As, recorded videos and/or live webinars.
- Work as a collaborative partner within the firm – building relationships with key business leaders – as well as with external agencies and key external partners.
- Support internal reporting and audit needs with a focus on data analysis.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for Ares’ reputation, clients and assets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 6 – 10 years of work experience in fast-paced, strategic communications role(s).
- A team player with a track record of operating with limited oversight to deliver high-quality work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience collaborating with global teams and multiple stakeholders to complete projects on time and in-budget.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, responsive and results driven.
- Deep understanding and/or clear interest in alternative investing.
- Ability to mine for unique stories, craft compelling narratives and place them in compelling earned, owned and sponsored channels.
- A strong background in developing integrated communications plans that align with topline corporate messaging.
- Demonstrated project management and decision-making skills.
