Job Description

Ares is seeking a Deputy Chief Operating Officer for our Mumbai office who has passion for leading teams that drive quality and productivity into world-class applications and services. This individual will be responsible for the growth and operations for Ares in Mumbai. This role will lead a talented and driven group of managers in the Mumbai office and is accountable for the short- and long-term growth of the office as well continuing to build and sustain the foundational capabilities that are required to attract and retain an organization of high-end operations professionals.

  • Set the strategic vision for the India business and align it with the global objectives.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure that the India office models Ares' mission, vision, and values in all activities and interactions.
  • Collaborate with global leaders to integrate the India operations with the broader organizational strategy.
  • Develop strong branding for India business to attract best talent through employee engagement, industry recognition and social media visibility.
  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent, foster a culture of continuous learning and upskilling.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the operations and business environment.
  • Drive innovation and growth initiatives to enhance the capabilities and services.
  • Foster open and transparent communication within the India team and across the organization.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion, create an environment where everyone feels valued and can contribute fully.
  • Collaborate with India Leadership Team to understand needs and provide solutions, including converting and directing technology and process change across the center and company.
  • Implement and improve program and resource management processes to measure, optimize, and drive critical management decisions.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with global regulatory frameworks and processes.
  • Mentor and develop managers and senior-level individual contributors.
  • Execute the operational and organizational strategy for the India team based on KPIs, and drive the tracking, course-correction, and achievement of these KPIs.
  • Research market trends and analyze competitor performance to develop effective sales strategies for India.
  • Embed policy and governance frameworks to ensure effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Be aware of operational risks, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, and any impact of new technologies.
  • Partner with HR and Chief Operation Officer, Ares India to solidify regional hiring needs and the relative prioritization of such needs.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • An advanced degree (such as an MBA) preferred.

Experience Required:

  • 15+ years of experience in Global Capability Center leadership role, preferably within sectors such as Banking & Financial Services, with at least 5+ years’ experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Knowledge of the complex India regulatory landscape & talent management.

  • Ability to present elements of business thought, strategies, and plans; presents ideas in a detailed, accurate and professional manner.
  • Ability to understand the people and process dynamics of key constituents and maintains strong relationships to advance key priorities.
  • Ability to present a business view on relevant functional strategies based on well-rounded analysis of key drivers, risks, and growth levers; continuously innovates in new areas while developing approaches; revenue opportunities.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in leadership style to adapt to changing market conditions and organizational needs.
  • Developed collaborative environments and built strong teams in prior roles that can work effectively across borders
  • Deep understanding of the regulatory landscape and ensure compliance with local and international laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt the style to suit the audience.
