Job Description
The Ares Alternative Credit Group is looking to add an Analyst Legal Coordinator to its US legal team. The Ares Alternative Credit Group is a leading manager of liquid and illiquid credit strategies including CLOs, private and rated asset backed securities, residential debt securities, net lease, residential mortgages, private placements as well as directly originated and other bespoke solutions, with approximately $44.5 billion of assets under management as of December 31, 2024.
This is a visible “front-line” role working directly with and coordinating among Alternative Credit investment professionals as well as the broader Ares Legal department, Compliance, Finance & Accounting, Tax, Fund Investor Relations, Public Investor Relations, and Investment Operations in providing legal support of business objectives including all stages of transaction execution.
The position will be based in New York. The Legal Coordinator will possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, organizational and time management skills.

This role will also require the individual in this position to develop an understanding of the Ares Management platform as a whole and how both legal and business issues in the Alternative Credit Group can impact the entire platform. Primary functions and essential responsibilities
- Assist with and facilitate coordination of legal matters across the Alternative Credit business, including:
- Providing administrative and project support with respect to day-to-day transaction execution, corporate governance matters, including document and records management, entity management, corporate data, conflicts clearances, vendor agreements, NDAs and other transactional matters.
- Assisting with and coordinating (as an active participant) in the legal workflow (e.g. reviewing, revising and/or negotiating NDAs, engagement letters, facilitating document requests or inquiries from fund administrators, third party managers, banks and other market participants, regulatory authorities, etc. relating to KYC/AML matters, fund formation, fund restructuring and/or account onboarding).
- Working with other business/legal/operations stakeholders to implement and improve internal processes and workflows.
- Organizing, maintaining, and periodically auditing electronic and hard copy records and files relating to various matters, including highly sensitive information.
- Assisting paralegals and attorneys with deal specific, private fund and public company matters, including records management, resolutions, information requests, disclosure questionnaires and tracking various internal approvals.
- Additional transactional or business-related projects and tasks, including the creation of billing codes and invoice processing, as needed.
- Participating in certain Ares-wide or “house” projects as needed on a global basis.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a strong academic background.
Experience Required:
- A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience working in a corporate environment, preferably at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house with background in Leveraged Finance, Private Equity M&A and/or Investment Funds.
- Investment management industry experience and familiarity with Investment Company Act of 1940 is appreciated, but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other MS Office software products.
- Experience with DealCloud, GEMS or other information management or analytics software.

Reporting Relationships
Senior Paralegal, CreditCompensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$90,000 - $105,000
