Job Description
Summary:
Ares is currently searching for a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player to join as an Associate Vice President in the Investment Operations – Pipeline Management Team. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of deal pipeline management, CRM relationship management, in addition to assisting with the ad hoc reporting requests. In this capacity, significant responsibilities include on-going relationships with European Direct Lending colleagues and will communicate regularly with Legal, Compliance, Finance and Business Development.
The candidate must have strong organizational, interpersonal, quantitative, and analytical skills and must be able to meet deadline requirements.
Primary Functions & Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the pipeline function for the European Direct Lending business
- Serve as the DealCloud Platform Manager, overseeing its functionality and enhancements
- Facilitate the use of DealCloud across Credit, Real Estate, and Private Equity business units
- Oversee daily business-as-usual activities for deal teams and portfolio managers, while enhancing and operationalizing processes
- Analyze and summarize data related to new investment opportunities, tracking the progress of each transaction dynamically
- Extract key data points from credit agreements and deal documentation, ensuring all systems are updated accurately
- Monitor elements of the deal closing process and ensure receipt of executed documents
- Validate that all tasks in the deal closing checklists were correctly executed
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of data governance across the firm
- Generate and analyze metrics to assess key performance indicators
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience Required:
- 7+ years relevant operational experience
- Strong knowledge of bank loans and credit agreements
- Strong knowledge of alternative credit transactions including privately held investments, bank debt, bonds, CLO equity, and other fixed income products.
- Experience with CRM systems (DealCloud) or other relational databases
General Requirements:
- Self-motivated and proactive team player who takes ownership and accountability of assigned tasks
- Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to prioritize work and function with minimal guidance
- Effective articulation with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook
