Job Description

SUMMARY

Ares Management is seeking an innovative and strategic communications leader to join our Corporate Communications & Marketing team as Associate Vice President, Internal Communications. In this role, you will shape global employee engagement by designing data-driven strategies, leading change management initiatives, and creating compelling content that connects 4,000+ employees to our purpose and values. You’ll partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful campaigns, elevate our digital platforms, and foster our unique culture. This is an opportunity to influence the employee experience at a leading global alternative asset manager while mentoring talent and driving measurable results.

This role will report to the Principal, Employee Communications Lead and work closely with members of the Corporate Communications & Marketing team (Employee, External, Digital/Social, Branding and Content) to help expand the firm’s communications capabilities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Principal of Employee Communications

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role will be to collaborate with Employee Communications team members and colleagues from throughout Ares to deliver best-in-class strategic communications support to internal clients and stakeholders. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Employee Communications Strategy
    • Partner with the Principal of Employee Communications in planning and executing Ares’ global internal communications program.
  • Employee Engagement & Change Management
    • Develop and implement programs that guide employees through change with clear, effective messaging that fosters a strong, inclusive culture and supports strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic Communications Leadership
    • Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to design and deliver innovative internal communications strategies that drive employee engagement and support business objectives.
  • Creative Campaigns & Content Development
    • Lead the creation of compelling executive communications, multimedia content, and firmwide campaigns that connect employees to our strategic priorities.
  • Event Planning & Execution
    • Oversee the planning and execution of high-impact employee events, including CEO town halls and other global initiatives, ensuring seamless delivery and impactful experiences for all participants.
  • Project Management & Results Delivery
    • Lead multiple high-impact projects with autonomy and creativity, and a measurable impact on employee communications.
  • Digital Platforms & Intranet Strategy
    • Collaborate on the evolution of our global intranet, source and curate engaging content, and evaluate new tools and vendor relationships to enhance the employee experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience Required:

  • 6-9+ years of internal communications / employee engagement experience, either in-house or at a strategic communications firm.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit/proof for content and context.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience working with teams globally across borders, time zones and cultures preferred.
  • Ability to solicit feedback and build consensus.
  • Strong organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Prior experience or knowledge of the financial services industry is a plus.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$145,000 - $175,000
