Job Description

Summary:

Ares is seeking an Associate to help oversee the marketing and distribution programme of Ares Management Luxembourg (“AMLux”), a regulated IFM. As a member of the Ares Luxembourg team, this position will report to the Marketing & Distribution Oversight Manager and will be primarily responsible for advising on and overseeing the requirements of the IFM with regard to the marketing of alternative investment funds (“AIFs”) on the AMLux platform, formulating and implementing the due diligence and ongoing oversight programme for both internal and external distributors of those AIFs, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, and providing reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors of AMLux on risk identification and ongoing oversight.

Primary Functions & Essential Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the:

  • Assistance with completion of initial and ongoing due diligence of appointed distributors and other marketing intermediaries, including co-ordination and review of due diligence questionnaires, risk assessments, KYD documents, screening, and contracts, ongoing monitoring and site visits
  • Preparation and production of Distribution Oversight due diligence reports and management reporting highlighting risks or gaps identified as appropriate and when required
  • Preparation, collection, review and analysis of the Key Performance Indicators
  • Preparation of regular reports on distributor performance, compliance, and other relevant metrics to senior management
  • Maintenance of the distribution network database for the Luxembourg domiciled funds
  • Analysis of the data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks within the distribution network
  • Preparation of various reports for the Boards and Committees on distribution
  • Appropriate escalation of incidents / breaches and risks to the management company, including the identification and management of known / unknown gaps Ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies governing marketing and distribution activities
  • Working with internal sales/client service functions to ensure that distributors meet their contractual obligations
  • Acting as a liaison between internal teams (Marketing, Compliance, Legal, Distribution) and external service providers to ensure timely and accurate execution of marketing and distribution initiatives
  • Assistance with oversight of fund registration processes and cross-border notifications
  • Assistance with monitoring key documentation such as distribution agreements, SLAs, and policies to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assistance with driving process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance distribution oversight, collaborating with technology, vendors, and internal teams
  • Contributing to strategic projects focused on improving oversight, investor engagement, and operational efficiency

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in the fund industry and oversight roles ideally in fund distribution (additional exposure to legal, compliance, risk management functions would be an advantage)
  • A strong understanding of Luxembourg regulations applicable to AIFMs, including knowledge and experience with marketing and distribution regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of the investment fund industry, oversight requirements (as set forth in CSSF 18/698 and various ALFI guidelines), marketing and distribution of investment funds, KYC/AML related regulations Experience using the UME Solutions platform a plus
