Job Description
Ares Management Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join the US Public Credit Financial Reporting team, with a focus on SEC reporting and technical accounting research.
The US Public Credit Financial Reporting team oversees the external financial reporting function for multiple public and non-publicly-traded entities within the organization. The team collaborates closely with Fund Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Investor Relations and others.
This role requires a highly hands-on, detail-oriented professional with strong SEC reporting experience, deep familiarity with Workiva (Wdesk), and a working knowledge of investment company and 1940 Act reporting.
Primary functions & responsibilities
Prepare and file SEC reports using Workiva (Wdesk) including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, earnings releases, N-CSR, N-CSRS, presentations and registration statements
Prepare roll-forwards and drafts SEC documents within Workiva, ensuring accuracy and consistency
Own XBRL validation, and submission, including ongoing maintenance and resolution of SEC validation errors
Prepare and update financial statement disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, and applicable investment company/BDC requirements
Perform detailed tie-outs across all external reporting deliverables
Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors
Perform technical accounting research related to new accounting standards and evolving disclosure requirements
Research peer disclosures and support implementation of new accounting pronouncements
Identify and implement opportunities to streamline Workiva workflows, XBRL processes, and reporting controls, including automation initiatives, while maintaining strong documentation and control standards
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
CPA license preferred
Experience Required:
Minimum 4+ years of relevant professional experience in public accounting and/or industry experience
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Hands-on experience with Workiva (Wdesk) and XBRL preferred
Exposure to BDCs, investment companies, or 1940 Act entities strongly preferred
Ability to successfully prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with recurring deadlines

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$130,000 - $150,000
