Junior GIS Specialist

We are looking for a Junior GIS Specialist to join the Digital team in our Warsaw office. You will be a part of an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards a professional qualification.

You will help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of high-profile clients. The role will involve a variety of technical tasks on projects of various scales from local to global importance. You will be working within the existing Digital team with other Arup digital specialists.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across Poland and beyond. From substantial infrastructure projects within Poland and Denmark to critical aviation projects, we're shaping a better world one project at a time.

As a Junior GIS Specialist at Arup, you will:
• Deliver dynamic, innovative solutions to internal and external clients by thinking both logically and creatively;
• Propose, develop and implement new automated systems and processes;
• Provide critical input to delivering projects on time and budget;
• Work with a range of data capture, analysis, visualisation and compliance technologies;
• Work with staff from other disciplines and demonstrate the value of good GIS standards and practices.

We value:
• Master’s Degree in geoinformatics, geography, environmental protection and management, water engineering, hydrology, or related fields;
• Technical expert in GIS - ArcGISPro and extensions;
• Exposure to Web GIS and/or enterprise GIS technologies – ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise;
• Ability to develop thematic maps for various engineering and infrastructure disciplines;
• Exposure to other desktop GIS software (QGIS, GRASS);
• Knowledge of CAD software and experience with other drafting tools;
• Familiarity with Polish spatial data resources, eg. BDOT, GESUT, MPHP
• Experience in producing GIS workflows;Data management and standards knowledge and experience;
• Advanced numeracy, analytical and computer skills for data manipulation and management;
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with an ability to communicate complex technical ideas to a non-technical audience;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Fluently speaking English and Polish;
Desirable Skills
• Spatial ETL applications, specifically FME;
• Automation of processes using Python & ArcPy;
• Basic knowledge of databases and GIS systems integration (MS SQL Server, Postgres, PostGIS);
• Experience of GIS application to engineering, environment, transport and development service sectors;
• Experience in Water GIS analysis
