Primary focus
As a Commercial Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to analyze and evaluate the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of projects and/or of a group within the company. Your role will involve gathering and interpreting data, and providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making. The group commercial teams are responsible for driving and implementing best practice commercial approaches and tools in winning, setting up and delivering projects. Within this framework the Commercial Analyst assists the Group Commercial Manager in monitoring and maintaining the overall commercial performance of the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Working under the guidance of the Group Commercial Manager within a defined area of responsibility, this role may include being responsible for specific parts of billable projects.
- You will be responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own and others work. Your work will encompass authoring non-standard letters, reports and other documentation.
- You will represent your team or group at internal meetings, and you may be involved in developing events, activities and internal projects of some complexity.
- Update project forecasts.
- Use and train others in Arup financial systems, understand and interrogate data.
- Assist in Continual improvement of the company’s commercial approach and processes as well as offering support where required to help support a successful commercial outcome.
- Assist in the development of the commercial acumen or our staff across all levels. Broadening skills and helping deliver consistent financial outcomes creates a positive working environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, quantity surveying or commercial/finance or similar area.
- Have between approximately 3–5 years relevant commercial experience in a Consulting or Construction organization in the buildings and/or infrastructure market preferred but not essential.
- Good commercial awareness and industry knowledge
- Have good analytical and reasoning skills and proven ability to develop solutions to complex problems.
- Good understanding of legal, contract management and project management principles and commercial management approaches, methodology, techniques and systems
- Highly effective communication, negotiation and persuasion skills – internally and with clients.
- High level of skill in the use of MS Excel and familiarity with Power BI
