The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering Group in Istanbul/Ankara, and support major rail, metro, highway, and large‑scale infrastructure projects in Türkiye and overseas.

As a Senior Structural Engineer at Arup, you will:
- Perform 3D modelling, analysis, and structural design of transportation and rail-related structures including stations, tunnels, bridges, depots, platforms, and operational facilities,
- Conduct structural calculations and develop technical reports for all rail project stages (concept design, preliminary design, detailed design, IFC, and construction support),
- Coordinate structural design with rail systems, track alignment, civil works, geotechnical design, architecture, and MEP disciplines, ensuring technical coherence across the project,
- Perform analysis considering dynamic loads, vibration, fatigue, derailment loads, seismic actions, wind loads, and other rail-specific structural requirements,
- Contribute to structural design solutions that account for constructability, safety, maintainability, and operational performance in transportation environments,
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, client meetings, and workshops related to rail and transport infrastructure,
- Support the preparation of technical documentation, tender packages, and specifications for large-scale transportation projects,
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior structural engineers, supporting the growth of team capability in rail and infrastructure engineering,

Working closely with project managers and technical leads to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of structural design packages.
Does this role inspire you?
We're looking for someone who is passionate about contributing to a wide range of prestigious transportation and rail projects in Türkiye and overseas. We also value:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable university,
- MSc in Structural and/or Earthquake Engineering is preferable, especially with a focus on transportation structures,
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural design of reinforced concrete and/or steel structures, preferably within rail, metro, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure projects,
- Experience with structural analysis and design of:
- Railway and metro stations,
- Cut-and-cover tunnels,
- Depot and maintenance buildings,
- Working knowledge of standard office tools (MS Office, CAD),
- Proficiency with structural modelling and analysis software used in transportation projects (e.g., CSI programs; ETABS, SAP2000, MIDAS or similar),
- Experience working with local and major international transportation codes (Eurocode, ASCE, ACI, ASCE, AASHTO, AREMA, EN 1990 series for rail, seismic design codes),
- Excellent written and spoken English,
- Strong coordination skills for working with geotechnical, rail systems, track alignment, MEP, and architectural teams,
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of taking responsibility for complex and challenging multidisciplinary projects,
- Strong presentation and communication skills,
- Ability to work collaboratively in an integrated project team environment,
- No national or international travel restrictions,
- No military service obligation for male candidates.
