The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering Group in Istanbul/Ankara, and support major rail, metro, highway, and large‑scale infrastructure projects in Türkiye and overseas.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Arup, you will:
- Participate in and lead the design of mechanical building services (HVAC, public health, fire protection) for a broad range of transportation‑related facilities, including:
- Metro and rail stations,
- Tunnels and underground structures,
- Depots, control centres, and maintenance facilities,
- Transport‑integrated buildings and mixed‑use hubs,
- Work closely with architects, multidisciplinary engineering teams, and clients to ensure effective design coordination across all project phases,
- Supervise document production and ensure interdisciplinary consistency and technical quality,
- Manage the delivery of mechanical design packages on time and to the highest quality standards,
- Support the integration of sustainable and energy‑efficient design principles into transport infrastructure projects,
- Contribute to client meetings, design workshops, technical reviews, and internal coordination sessions, ensuring clear communication and alignment across teams.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about contributing to a wide range of prestigious transportation and rail projects in Türkiye and overseas. We also value:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable university,
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, with the ability and willingness to adapt skills to a wide range of transportation and building-related project types,
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills,
- Experience designing in accordance with local and major international codes and standards,

Experience working in multinational, English‑speaking project environments,
Minimum 15 years of professional experience, at least 10 years within rail, metro, station design, or large‑scale transportation infrastructure projects,
- Experience with building energy modelling and performance-based design,
- Ability to coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and rail systems disciplines,
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and eager to take on new technical challenges,
- Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills,
- Strong planning, organizational, and teamwork abilities,
- High attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure, meeting demanding deadlines,
- Willingness and availability to travel nationally and internationally; ability to take part in short and long‑term overseas assignments,
