Shape a future with purpose at Arup in Copenhagen
Design the resilient infrastructure of tomorrow
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world. Based out of our office in the landmark ‘Axel Towers’ in the heart of Copenhagen, we assist with the planning and design of prominent projects in the built environment. We are a growing, dynamic office of 90 staff, combining Danish heritage with international expertise to shape our cities through better transportation, energy, and commercial infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to join our Civil Infrastructures team and work on some of Denmark's most transformative projects. We are currently contributing to the Østlig Ringvej, the M5 Metro, and major Hyperscale Datacenters, alongside iconic legacy projects like the Cityringen Metro.
We are looking for a hands-on engineer who wants to apply their technical skills to complex challenges. You will work within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team, delivering energy-efficient and innovative site infrastructure solutions. This role offers the chance to deepen your technical expertise in a supportive environment while gaining exposure to high-profile Science & Industry and Transport projects across Scandinavia.
As a Civil Engineer at Arup, you will:
Lead and deliver civil engineering design packages, focusing on site infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, and road alignments for complex projects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinating closely with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure seamless project integration, particularly in the Science & Industry sector.
Utilise advanced design software (such as Civil 3D or Microdrainage) to produce high-quality technical models and documentation.
Undertake technical analysis, including hydrology studies and cut & fill analysis, to optimize design solutions for sustainability and efficiency.
Mentor and guide junior team members, supporting their professional development and reviewing technical work to ensure high standards.
Does this role inspire you?
We're looking for a proactive engineer with a "can-do" attitude who is passionate about delivering high-quality infrastructure. We also value:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant post-qualification experience in civil or infrastructure projects (we are looking for a solid technical contributor).
Fluency in both Danish and English is essential for this role to effectively coordinate with local stakeholders and international teams.
Solid design experience in areas such as stormwater & sanitary drainage, roads and pavements, site grading, or underground utility coordination.
Proficiency with design and modelling packages; experience with Civil 3D is highly desirable.
Experience working on Data Centre or complex site infrastructure projects is a distinct advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
