The Opportunity
The Finance Systems Transformation Programme is a major change initiative that supports Arup’s Global Finance Vision. The programme will transform our future finance capabilities by enabling significant operational change through the worldwide implementation of Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM across Arup.
Delivering a modern cloud-based finance foundation will allow data and processes to be unified to enhance decision-making, increase efficiency and improve user experience, strengthening our organisation for the future.
The Programme will be delivered by a dedicated, collaborative, cross-functional and multi-location team working closely with our Finance team, our wider business and the implementation partner to ensure a successful outcome.
The Data Architect will be responsible for defining and governing the end‑to‑end data architecture across the Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM landscape. This role ensures that data models, integrations, and information flows are designed for integrity, security, and scalability, enabling reliable Finance, Procurement, and Performance Management reporting and analytics. This role is a fixed term contract forecasted to last through June of 2028.
The successful candidate will partner with Functional Leads, Technical Leads, business data owners, and delivery partners to establish data standards, oversee migration and integration patterns, and ensure high‑quality, trusted data throughout the programme lifecycle.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share, and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives, and ideas.
You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Role Overview
Data Architecture & Design:
- Define the target data architecture for Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
- Establish canonical data definitions, master and reference data standards, and data domain ownership.
- Ensure alignment to enterprise architecture principles and programme objectives.
Data Integration & Flows:
- Design end‑to‑end data flows across ERP, EPM, data warehouse/lake, and downstream systems using approved integration patterns (e.g., OIC, APIs, FBDI, export/import pipelines).
- Own the interface inventory and data mapping specifications, ensuring traceability from source to consumption.
- Champion near‑real‑time vs batch patterns based on business need, performance, and cost.
Data Migration & Cutover:
- Lead the data migration strategy and approach across ERP and EPM, including data profiling, cleansing, enrichment, and reconciliation.
- Define migration staging, sequencing, and dress‑rehearsal plans; oversee execution quality and defect resolution.
- Establish cutover data readiness criteria and sign‑off checkpoints.
Data Quality & Governance:
- Define data quality rules, controls, and KPIs; implement monitoring and remediation processes across critical data objects (e.g., suppliers, customers, chart of accounts, projects).
- Stand up data governance processes, RACI, and forums; facilitate decisions on data standards and lineage.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and security requirements, including retention and segregation needs.
Security, Controls & Privacy:
- Collaborate with Security and Technical Leads to define data access models, segregation of duties controls, and masking/anonymisation patterns for non‑prod use.
- Ensure sensitive data handling aligns with organisational and legal requirements.
Reporting & Analytics Enablement:
- Enable management reporting and analytics by defining semantic models and curated datasets that draw from ERP and EPM.
- Partner with reporting teams to ensure consistent metrics, hierarchies, and dimensional structures.
Documentation & Governance:
- Maintain architecture artefacts including data models, lineage diagrams, interface specifications, and data dictionaries.
- Contribute to design authority forums and change control processes, ensuring data impacts are assessed and approved.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with Functional Leads to ensure process designs are underpinned by robust data models.
- Partner with Technical Leads, SI partners, and internal IT to drive cohesive delivery across environments.
- Provide guidance and coaching to data stewards and business data owners.

- Demonstrated leadership in data migration at scale, including reconciliation and cutover.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and metadata/lineage practices.
- Ability to translate complex data concepts for business stakeholders and influence decision‑making.
- Experience designing analytics and semantic layers for ERP/EPM reporting.
- Familiarity with OCI data services and modern data platforms (e.g., data lake/warehouse patterns).
- Exposure to security, privacy, and regulatory considerations in financial data.
- Pragmatic, detail‑oriented, and collaborative—comfortable setting standards and guiding delivery partners.
