The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our Istanbul Office to strengthen our Geotechnical team.
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Arup, you will:
Supervising and coordinating the work of team members across relevant project tasks,
Planning, overseeing and managing on site investigations and laboratory testing,
Evaluating and assessing factual data from site investigations into interpretative reports,
Performing geotechnical design and analysis for shallow and deep foundations, deep excavations, embankments, retaining walls, tunnels and underground structures,
Interacting with structural engineers and collaborating in the design of building foundations, bridge foundations, tunnels etc.
Performing numerical analysis using various engineering software,
Provide mentorship, supervise and motivate junior members of the team,
Supporting group/team leaders in preparing bid documents by identifying client requirements, resource planning, defining scope & design basis, evaluation & management of risks and preparing financial fee proposals,
Monitor staff resourcing and maintain good financial performance of the projects involved.
Does this role inspire you?
Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from reputable universities,
MSc in Geotechnical Engineering is required,
Extensive theoretical background in soil and rock mechanics,
Minimum 10 years of geotechnical design experience emphasis on infrastructural projects, particularly rail and highway projects,
Strong capability to coordinate multidisciplinary work and lead project design processes,
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken,
Working experience in multinational and English speaking environment,
Accomplished communication and presentation skills, ability to communicate effectively with multinational team of designers, clients, regulators and junior staff,
Proven experience in geotechnical project planning, analyses, design and preparation of deliverables,
Experience with numerical analysis software (Plaxis and Oasys Geo Suite or other equivalent),
Site experience of overseeing site investigation and construction of geotechnical design elements,
Extensive knowledge of local and international codes,
Ability to conceptualize and develop practical solutions,
Ability to coordinate work, relate and work well with people within an integrated multidisciplinary team
Ability to take ownership of any task assigned, make decisions, liaise and efficiently take it to its conclusion; from desk studies to detailed design,
Organized and detail oriented,
Flexible and mobile to travel overseas for work and meetings (previous overseas experience would be an advantage),
Available to work in flexible hours,
Have a driver’s licence,
For male candidates military service must be completed.
