The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural engineering team, in our Milan Office, who will deliver local and global projects including landmark projects in Italy and Europe for Italian and Global Clients.
The variety of projects and the internal research opportunities provide a great environment in which to develop technical skills and the delivery of complex projects.
As a Senior Structural Engineer at Arup, you will:
Lead and deliver structural design packages for complex infrastructure projects, taking technical ownership of allocated elements.
Work closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, high‑quality engineering solutions.
Perform advanced structural and numerical analyses, producing calculations, drawings, specifications, and clear technical reports.
Manage allocated work packages across multiple projects and proposals, ensuring technical quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
Support, mentor, and technically guide junior colleagues, contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
Contribute to technical excellence, digital innovation, and knowledge sharing within Arup’s global geotechnical community.

We’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who is passionate about challenging design problems and has a strong interest in innovation, optimisation and high quality delivery. We also value:
A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
10+ years’ experience in structural design on medium to large-scale projects.
Strong experience in structural and numerical analysis using industry‑standard software.
Solid engineering judgement with excellent planning, organisational, and time‑management skills.
Strong interest in digital engineering and BIM, including the ability to coordinate BIM and digital workflows for modelling and drawing delivery.
Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
Fluency in Italian and English.
