The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Transport Modeller to join our India-based Cities, Design and Planning team. This role will primarily support projects across the Middle East—particularly in the UAE and KSA—while also contributing to projects and initiatives in India. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality transport modelling and analysis, collaborating closely with our Dubai team and wider global Arup network.

As a Senior Transport Planner/Modeller, you will be leading and delivering traffic analysis and transport modelling studies and conduct transit operations analysis and intermodal planning
Lead the development of bespoke modelling tooling, develop and review calculations, drawings, programmes, and cost estimates and manage and produce project documentation, reporting, and presentations and coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision. Support project management and mentoring of junior staff.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for candidates with

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (specialisation in Transportation); Master’s in Transport Planning is beneficial with minimum seven (7) years of post-graduate experience in transport modelling, planning, etc

  • Proficiency in VISUM and CUBE is essential; experience with SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS, VISSIM, Aimsun, GIS, Python, and VBA is desirable with strong understanding of trip generation, demand analysis, and traffic engineering fundamentals

  • Proven experience in applying and interpreting models, with the ability to build bespoke modelling tools and automate workflows using scripting languages such as Python or VBA

  • Experience working in the Middle East, especially UAE and KSA, with familiarity in UAE guidelines (TIS, TMPs) and models (STEAM, DSTM) is desirable and experience in big data analytics, active travel strategies, and future mobility trends is desirable

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality analytical and qualitative outputs with strong communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to communicate effectively complex issues associated with transport planning and design projects

  • Proven ability to manage projects, bids, support client relationships, and contribute to business development with success in contributing to a team-oriented environment with excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
