The role will be based in Singapore and will support the delivery of urban design and masterplanning projects within Arup’s Cities / CPD portfolio. The role will contribute to city-scale and district-scale projects from early concept stages through to implementation, supporting projects across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The role will support the growth of the Cities business in Southeast Asia through project delivery, bid support, and collaboration across urban design, masterplanning, and broader city-shaping initiatives. The position is intended for a strong urban design practitioner who can deliver high-quality work while guiding design direction, mentoring junior team members, and actively shaping the use of digital design, analytical, and visualisation approaches to strengthen project outcomes and team capability within multidisciplinary environments.

The Opportunity

  • Deliver high-quality urban design outputs, including conceptual designs, clear visual communication of ideas, and well-structured presentation materials, while demonstrating a strong understanding of urban typologies.
  • Ensure that assigned tasks and deliverables are completed within agreed timeframes, quality standards, and budgets, working closely with project and discipline leaders.
  • Take responsibility for defined workstreams or design packages, coordinating people, resources, and information to support smooth project delivery across all stages
  • Maintain effective collaboration and communication with internal teams, external stakeholders, and Leaders to support coordination of tasks and functions.
  • Support the preparation of masterplans, urban design guidelines, and bids or proposals, while contributing to the development of the team’s visual language, graphic standards, and broader business development activities.

Is this role right for you?

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions or progress toward professional accreditation is desirable.
  • At least with 7 years’ experience at leading design practices with a strong career focus on urban design and/or masterplanning.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Capability in Rhino, AutoCAD, or SketchUp.
  • Awareness of Singapore’s planning framework, with familiarity or exposure to planning and development contexts within Southeast Asia considered advantageous.
