Arup is often called upon to tackle some of the most challenging engineering problems using advanced modelling and non-linear analysis techniques. Our work spans a broad range of applications across civil and structural engineering, including tunnels, bridges, existing building retrofit, risk assessment, maritime structures, risk assessment and seismic engineering. By combining deep technical expertise with advanced analytical tools, we help clients gain critical insight, reduced uncertainty and make informed decisions in complex and demanding technical environments.

The Opportunity

This is your chance to be part of the Advanced Engineering team in Arup Madrid. You will have the opportunity to work with specialists in the fields of structural dynamics, seismic engineering, soil-structure-interaction, advanced finite element analysis, existing structures, structural materials, offshore structures and much more, developing your technical skills and knowledge in these specialized services.

As an Advanced Engineering Trainee at Arup, you will:

  • Work in a variety of projects where the common factor is the dynamic behaviour of different structures
  • Participate in developing advanced finite element models and analytical calculations.
  • Provide support in any other tasks required in the department
  • Possibility of site visits

We are looking for someone proactive and dynamic. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering and currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or Seismic Engineering
  • Special interest in structural dynamics, seismic engineering, soil-structure interaction and structural design
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish skills
  • Proficient in use of finite element analysis software
  • Programming skills and use of parametric tools (Python, Grasshopper, etc.)
  • Dynamism and flexibility

Conditions

  • Be enrolled in the university to be able to establish an agreement with the University

  • Immediate incorporation

  • Duration: 6 months of extendable internship (possibility of joining after completing the internship)

  • Schedule: From 20 to 40 hours per week to be defined with the student

  • Remuneration: will depend on the student's level of training and the number of hours established.
