In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. This role will be key in achieving our strategic market and client ambitions. We are seeking to appoint a Marketing & Communications Manager for Vietnam & Thailand to join our MCBD function.

What This Role Involves

The Marketing and Communications Manager has a pivotal role dedicated to building and enhancing our success in the local market. This position requires a generalist in marketing management, with a strong focus on building Arup’s brand and reputation, industry engagement, stakeholder relationships, and client-centric strategies aligned to Arup’s strategy and business priorities. This role will drive brand awareness, client marketing, and support work winning efforts with aligned marketing and communications and industry engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Management

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications plan, campaigns and initiatives to enhance Arup’s brand and reputation in the local markets aligned with Arup’s marketing strategy and business priorities.
  • Monitor and analyse local market trends to identify opportunities for brand positioning and competitive advantage.
  • Secure and promote prestigious industry recognition for our people and projects through quality industry awards to contribute to brand building efforts.
  • Provide advice to local leadership on brand and reputation, marketing and communications related matters drawing on specialists within the MCBD team as required.
  • In collaboration with specialists within MCBD incorporate media relations activities within marketing and communications campaigns and support reputation management efforts.
  • Collaborate with local leadership to ensure marketing strategies and resources are aligned with business priorities and activities of highest business value.
  • Develop and manage an annual marketing budget for Vietnam and Thailand, contribute to and maintain Arup’s Marketing & Communications calendar to ensure an accurate reflection of local marketing and communications activities.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives including ROI.

Industry Engagement and Stakeholder Relationships

  • Enable building and maintaining strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders relevant to the business priorities in the local markets.
  • Identify, pursue and negotiate opportunities for industry partnerships and collaborations in consultation with local leadership.
  • Critically assess and manage industry engagement activities including memberships and sponsorships for alignment to strategy and business priorities, and to optimise ROI.

Client Focus and Business Development

  • Support Arup’s key client programme for priority clients managed within the local markets.
  • Align marketing and communications activities and investments to support work-winning efforts in identified priority businesses and champion a strong client focus on all marketing and communications activities.
  • Advocate and support effective use of Arup’s client systems to support client relationship management, client interactions and communications.
  • In collaboration with business stakeholders and the broader MCBD team, drive business development and client engagement initiatives that deliver successful work winning outcomes in the local market. Including:
    - marketing campaigns that engage target clients,
    - materials and activities that enhance client engagement and support work winning and
    - high-quality client and industry engagement and event opportunities.
    - leading a team in executing client marketing efforts focused on key clients and in support of strategic pursuits.

Knowledge and experience

  • Significant, proven experience in a senior marketing, communications, and/or business development role within a services, B2B or B2G industry with complex procurement and long sales cycles. Experience across a range of marketing and communications disciplines including event management.
  • Demonstrated experience in building trusted, influential relationships with senior
    internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, managing and reporting on marketing budgets and return on marketing investment.

Is this role right for you?

  • Undergraduate or further degree in marketing, communications or commerce and/or postgraduate professional qualification in marketing.
  • Strong skills in strategic thinking and analysis and problem-solving.
  • Commercial literacy, budget development and management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adaptable to changing requirements. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working within a matrix organisation structure.
  • Able to build strong and highly collaborative working relationships with peers, leaders and other stakeholders.
  • High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and inclusive leadership.
