The Opportunity
Structural Design/Engineering: as a member of the Building Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the structural design/engineering practice of projects. You will meet with a variety of clients and lead the structural design/engineering of projects. You will also work in close cooperation with other Teams/Disciplines such as MEP and façade engineering teams.
• Reporting line: Structural Discipline Leader
• Lead and deliver structural design for building projects across commercial, residential, mixed use, transportation, and complex developments
• Undertake and review structural analysis and design using Japanese and international design codes and standards
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers
• Prepare design reports, calculations, specifications, and tender documentation
• Engage with clients, contractors, and authorities to support project delivery
• Support quality assurance, risk management, and technical governance on projects

Is this role right for you?

Essential requirements
• At least 8 years of hands-on structural design experience in Japan, with experience taking responsibility for project delivery
• Native-level Japanese language proficiency

Education / Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline
• First-class Architect (Ikkyu Kenchikushi) qualification, or currently working toward it, is preferred

Preferred / additional attributes
• Practical experience with digital tools and programming, such as Grasshopper
• A collaborative team player who respects colleagues and can work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness to work proactively with overseas offices
• Positive and open attitude toward communication in English
