Role Description
- The Airport Planner will support and lead the planning, analysis, and development of airport infrastructure projects in APAC and globally. The role focuses on airport master planning, airside and terminal planning, capacity analysis, and operational strategy, working within multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality, practical, and sustainable planning solutions for airport clients.
- Depending on experience, the role may range from technical delivery and analysis to project leadership, client engagement, and mentoring of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Airport Planning & Technical Delivery
- Contribute to and lead airport master plans, feasibility studies, and development strategies.
- Undertake airside planning including runways, taxiways, aprons, aircraft stands, and airfield safeguarding.
- Support passenger terminal planning, including functional layouts, capacity assessments, level of service analysis, and process planning.
- Prepare demand and capacity assessments for aircraft, passengers, and cargo.
- Develop planning concepts, options, and layouts using appropriate analytical and graphical tools.
- Prepare clear, well‑structured technical reports, drawings, and presentations for internal and client use.
Project & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with multi‑disciplinary teams (engineering, architecture, transport, sustainability, ORAT, digital)
- Coordinate inputs from internal specialists and external stakeholders.
- Support project managers in delivering work to programme, budget, and quality expectations.
- At senior levels, mentor and review work of junior planners.
Client & Business Support
- Participate in client meetings, workshops, and presentations.
- Support proposal preparation, including methodology writing, scope definition, and fee inputs.
- Build trusted relationships with airport authorities, operators, airlines, and government agencies.
- Contribute to the growth of the Aviation Planning practice in the APAC region.
Is this role right for you?
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Must have:
- Degree in Airport Planning, Aviation, Transport Planning, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and spatial planning skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly in written reports and presentations.
- Proficient in standard planning and analysis tools (e.g. Excel, CAD/GIS, PowerPoint).
- Good planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced work environment.
- Exercise judgement, curiosity, creativity, and initiative.
Nice to have:
- Experience in airport planning or aviation consultancy.
- Solid understanding of airport systems and operations (airside, terminal, landside).
- Familiarity with international aviation standards and guidelines (e.g. ICAO, IATA, local aviation authority requirements).
- Exposure to capacity modelling, simulation, or specialist aviation planning software.
- Understanding of sustainability, decarbonisation, or resilience in airport planning.
- Corporate membership of relevant professional institution(s).
