Primary Focus:

The Project Controls Engineer will provide support and specialized assistance to project managers for the resolution of complex engineering project controls issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Support project controls effort for the planning, scheduling, cost analysis and monitoring for major engineering programs or high visibility projects
  • Monitors and analyses reports and makes recommendations on cost and schedule performance.
  • Develops specialized work breakdown structures for complex projects.
  • Undertake project costing (CAPEX/OPEX) that are valuated from internal data bases of previous & current similar projects, quotation from supplier/vendor locally and abroad; all supplied information must comply with mechanical, electrical, process and other known requirements.
  • Work with unit price analysis by identifying the normal work output and unit rates of labor, tools & consumables, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Monitors schedule deviation for assigned disciplines or specialties and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.
  • Works within the QS and Planning Team to compare costs to support Project Managers and Project Directors in discussing with Clients CAPEX/OPEX of their projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or related field with knowledge in construction methods and practices.
  • Must be a Licensed Engineer
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role in Project Controls Engineering, Quantity surveying or Construction related industry experience preferred.
  • Project management principles and practices in an engineering or construction environment, such as earned value analysis, resource management, budgeting, expenditure forecasting, and cost accounting; design and construction scheduling software; project management; and current office technology and equipment
  • Demonstrates an intermediate level understanding of Project Controls general technical skills, basic knowledge of developing quantity take-offs for a discipline or specialty using defined scope documents or undefined scope assumptions but able to derive Unit Price Analysis (labour, materials & equipment) experience preferred.
  • Knowledge on MS office suite, CAD; with advanced Excel, Power BI, MS Project and Primavera or any advanced scheduling software
  • Excellent communication skills
