Arup’s purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years and guide how we contribute to a better world.

Our Infrastructure team (Bridges & Civil Structures) is at the heart of Arup’s commitment to sustainable development. We design innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact while creating comfortable, healthy, and high‑performing spaces where people can live, work, and thrive — in the Netherlands and beyond.

The Opportunity

As a Junior BIM Modeller at Arup, you will work in a team responsible for modelling some of the most iconic bridges and infrastructure projects in the Netherlands, such as the Van Brienenoord Bridge, Haringvliet Bridge, and Galecopper Bridge.
You will contribute to projects that are technically complex, multidisciplinary, and highly visible across the country.

You will work daily with the latest digital technologies, including parametric modelling, Grasshopper/Dynamo, and scripting/coding (for example in Python) to automate design workflows. You will help take BIM models to the next level, ensuring they are robust, well‑coordinated, and reliable.

At Arup, you are given room to grow. We offer training, mentoring, and internal programs to develop your technical and digital skills. You will collaborate with experienced designers, modellers, and specialists from the Netherlands and abroad.

As a Junior BIM Modeller at Arup, you will:
  • Work directly on large, visible, and socially relevant projects.
  • Create 3D BIM models of civil structures (bridges and infrastructure) in line with applicable standards and Arup guidelines.
  • Collaborate with designers, structural engineers, and fellow modellers on large, complex projects.Integrate and coordinate your models with other disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, infrastructure)
  • Apply parametric tools or learn to use them (Rhino.Inside, Grasshopper, Dynamo, scripting).
  • Work efficiently with colleagues from Arup offices worldwide.

We also value:

  • A completed HBO or university degree
  • Experience with Revit
  • Approximately 1–2 years of experience as a BIM Modeller, from concept design through to technical design and construction
  • Experience with and/or interest in (complex) bridges is an advantage
  • Affinity with parametric design
  • Experience with Grasshopper is a plus, or the willingness to learn it with us
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English
