The Opportunity
We offer a comprehensive lighting design service, from initial strategic advice and concept development through to construction documents and on-site support for all markets worldwide. As lighting designers, engineers, and advisors we use the medium of light to shape and influence how people interact with the built environment. We are seeking a Senior Lighting Designer to help establish, grow, and lead our lighting design capability in India, working closely with our UK Lighting team. This is a strategically important role that combines hands‑on creative and technical design expertise with strong project delivery leadership and business development responsibilities.
You will play a key role in shaping our regional presence – building client relationships, winning work, and delivering high‑quality lighting design projects across sectors. As a senior member of the team, you will mentor designers, strengthen our local capability, and collaborate closely with our global lighting design community to bring the best of our thinking to the region.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead lighting design workstreams from concept through to construction, ensuring the highest standards of creative, technical and visual quality.
- Manage project programmes, resources, financials, and risk, ensuring robust and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other specialists to deliver fully integrated and innovative design solutions.
- Present design ideas convincingly to clients and multidisciplinary teams, both in workshops and formal presentations.
- Oversee quality assurance, review documentation, and support site-stage services where required.
Business Development & Market Growth
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, understanding local market drivers and opportunities.
- Lead and contribute to bids, proposals, and positioning activities.
- Represent the lighting team in industry events, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
- Drive growth of the lighting design portfolio in India, identifying new sectors, partners, and regional opportunities.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Help recruit and mentor and support junior and mid‑level designers, helping to build a sustainable, high-quality lighting team in India.
- Support knowledge-sharing, best‑practice implementation, and engagement with wider lighting teams across geographies.
- Contribute to evolving our integrated design offer, collaborating with portfolios including experiential environments, sustainability, daylighting, and digital design.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for candidates with:
- A degree in lighting design, architecture, electrical engineering, or a related field; professional lighting qualifications are highly desirable.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating creative, human-centric lighting design across diverse project types (interior, exterior, urban, cultural, commercial, etc.).
- Ability to produce and direct high-quality concept designs, sketches, visualisations, reports, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong skills in lighting software such as DIALux/Relux, CAD/BIM tools (Revit, Rhino), Adobe Creative Suite; Radiance knowledge is a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of managing and delivering complex lighting projects at senior level.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and guiding junior colleagues.
- Confident communicator who can lead workshops, manage clients, and advocate for design integrity.
- Proven ability to contribute to or lead business development efforts including client engagement, bidding, positioning, and relationship building.
