We are seeking a Senior Engineer with rail signalling background to support the planning, design, delivery, and assurance of railway and metro systems. The position will be based in our Kuala Lumpur office and the role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team on complex rail projects, contributing to system design, technical documentation, and safety‑critical assurance activities across the project lifecycle. The role will also be responsible for taking the lead in developing proposals for new opportunities and for responding to tender requests.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical capability in project management with an emphasis on rail signaling, a structured engineering approach, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

This role may involve working across different project stages and locations, including office-based design and limited site support activities. The level of responsibility and autonomy will be aligned with the candidate’s experience and capability.

The candidate should be willing to travel for short-term assignments in Asia.

The Opportunity

  • Support the design and development of all rail systems disciplines, in particular the signaling related activities
  • Prepare and/or review signaling engineering deliverables such as:
    Signalling schemes and layouts
    Functional and system requirements
    Interface specifications
    Test procedures and reports
  • Apply systems engineering and lifecycle processes to signaling design and delivery
  • Support safety, RAMS, verification, and validation activities in accordance with applicable standards
  • Coordinate technical interfaces with rolling stock, traction power, telecoms, and operations teams
  • Participate in technical reviews and independent checking activities
  • Provide engineering support during installation, testing, and commissioning (where required)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and development of best practice

Is this role right for you?

  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years demonstrable experience in rail or metro signaling engineering
  • Knowledge of railway signaling principles.
  • Understanding of relevant signaling and safety standards (e.g. CENELEC EN 50126/28/29 or equivalent)
  • Experience producing clear, structured technical documentation
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Experience with modern signaling systems such as CBTC, ETCS/ERTMS, ATP, or ATO
  • Exposure to safety assurance, RAMS, or safety case development
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools used in rail projects
  • Site experience, including testing or commissioning support
  • Progress towards or holding professional accreditation (e.g. Chartered Engineer or equivalent)
