The Opportunity

Our Water Infrastructure team in Birmingham is growing, and we are seeking a mid to senior Civil Engineer to join our established team delivering multidisciplinary water sector projects for our utility clients.

You will work on water and wastewater schemes, taking responsibility for or supporting design packages across hydraulics, drainage, flood risk, civil structures, pavements, roads, and utilities coordination. You will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support design delivery and coordination across projects.

Depending on experience, there may be involvement in client engagement, programme support, and commercial or risk-related activities.

We are looking for a proactive engineer with strong communication skills and an inquisitive mindset. Sustainability and digital delivery are central to our approach, with a focus on efficient, high-quality engineering solutions.

Is this role right for you?

We are seeking the below skills and knowledge:

  • Strong experience in civil engineering design, particularly for water and wastewater assets
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to present design options clearly
  • Understanding of approval processes (e.g. planning and stakeholder engagement)
  • Enjoys supporting junior team members and sharing knowledge
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or MicroStation is desirable Experience with drainage and civil design tools such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage or Civil 3D is desirable

Qualifications:

  • Suitable qualifications in Civil Engineering & demonstrable experience within the field of water utilities civil engineering.
  • Have or be actively working towards a professional qualification with a relevant professional body, such as the Institution of Civil Engineers.
