The Finance Business Services PMO supports a global change programme across Finance Business Services, contributing to the wider Global Finance strategy.

Working with the Group Head of Finance Programmes, you will support Finance Business Services owners to deliver strategic change initiatives impacting finance systems, processes and ways of working across Finance Business Services and the wider business.

The Opportunity

The Payroll Business Analyst supports payroll-related change initiatives by capturing, documenting and validating payroll processes and requirements. The role provides hands-on analysis across payroll operations, systems and data, working with Payroll subject matter experts (SMEs), Project Managers and delivery partners to ensure requirements are clear, testable and delivered in line with agreed scope and governance.
The role is delivery-focused and operates within established Finance PMO frameworks, under the direction of a Project Manager and transformation leads. You will support Finance Business Services in the delivery of global finance systems and process-related projects, including:

  • Capture and document payroll processes, covering current-state and agreed future-state scenarios.

  • Identify process gaps, risks and dependencies, escalating where clarification or decisions are required.
  • Document payroll system and integration requirements, including interfaces with HR and Finance systems (e.g., General Ledger, Treasury, and banking files).
  • Support data-related activities such as analysis, migration preparation, reconciliation and validation.
  • Prepare test scenarios, test data and expected results aligned to payroll calculations and statutory requirements.
  • Support business-led testing, including UAT coordination, defect logging, and tracking to resolution.
  • Maintain requirements traceability to support solution design, testing and assurance.
  • Support and facilitate payroll workshops and working sessions, capturing outputs, decisions and actions.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Payroll SMEs and delivery teams, following agreed governance and delivery processes.
  • Support prioritisation by ensuring clarity on functional and non-functional requirements, and by working with the project team to plan and sequence analysis activities.
  • Contribute practical suggestions to support improvements in payroll process or system design.
  • Support change initiatives such as process re-engineering for system configurations and software upgrades.
  • Work with business owners to identify and correct poorly structured or inaccurate data flows and related processes.
  • Undertake any other payroll related activities that support the global payroll transformation.

Is this role right for you?

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst on payroll-related initiatives (e.g., operational payroll, system implementation or process improvement).
  • Practical understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and relevant statutory requirements.
  • Ability to produce clear analysis artefacts, including process maps, requirements documentation and test materials.
  • Experience working in project delivery environments, taking direction from a Project Manager and/or transformation lead.
  • Experience supporting workshops and working sessions with Payroll SMEs and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of how payroll integrates with wider finance processes and systems (e.g., journal posting, funding and banking files), with the ability to identify risks and dependencies.
  • Experience with workflow analysis and process modelling techniques.
  • Experience interpreting payroll and finance transactional data to support analysis activities such as reconciliations, data mapping and validation in complex systems environments.
  • Awareness of change management considerations, including supporting training materials and communications where required.
  • Able to work collaboratively across multiple payroll teams globally and manage competing priorities in a delivery-focused environment.
