Senior Project Manager Science, Industry & Technology (SIT)

Zurich (Switzerland)

Shape a future with purpose at Arup in Zurich.

Lead the growth of our Science, Industry & Technology business in Switzerland.

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Our presence in Zurich is expanding, and we are looking to strengthen our Project Management capability. This is a unique opportunity to act as a founding member of our growing Swiss team, helping to establish our upcoming physical office next year while delivering complex, high-value projects with international reach.

The Opportunity

This is a career-defining opportunity to shape and grow a new Project Management capability in Zurich. You will take the reins on large, complex building projects (typically CHF 10–15m+ construction value), starting immediately with a highly client-focused Data Centre project.

Beyond Data Centres, you will have the platform to contribute to pioneering projects across Life Sciences, laboratories, hospitals, power plants, and high-voltage industrial facilities. Working with a high level of autonomy—yet supported by our global expertise—you will guide projects through their full lifecycle: from design and procurement to construction, handover, and close-out. Additionally, you will play a key role in business development, advisory services, and due diligence to expand our footprint in the Swiss market.

As a Senior Project Manager at Arup, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of complex SIT building projects from a client-side project management perspective.

  • Establish and monitor project programmes, proactively managing cost control, change management, and procurement activities in collaboration with specialist teams.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, external contractors, and specialist support to deliver outcomes fully aligned with the client brief, schedule, and budget.

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships within complex stakeholder environments, acting as the primary point of contact for project delivery.

  • Administer construction contracts, oversee contractor performance, and lead project close-out, handover, and lessons-learned processes.

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for an ambitious project management professional who is passionate about delivering complex technological infrastructure and eager to help grow our Swiss presence. We also value:

  • 5+ years of proven experience delivering medium to large-scale building projects (ideally >CHF 10-15m), supported by a professional qualification in a construction-related discipline.

  • Deep knowledge of the Swiss construction market, including local regulations, procurement phases, and industry standards.

  • Fluency in English and advanced proficiency in German (minimum B2) to effectively manage local stakeholders and clients.

  • Specific project experience within the Science, Industry & Technology (SIT) sector—particularly Data Centres, Life Sciences, laboratories, or high-voltage facilities.

  • A highly collaborative, client-facing mindset with strong communication skills to manage large project teams across design, procurement, and construction phases.
