Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Join our Perth Transport team as a Senior Engineer – Bridges & Civil Structures, where you'll lead the delivery of major bridge and civil structures projects across the transport sector while supporting opportunities within water, energy and resources. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, innovative infrastructure solutions. This role also offers the opportunity to build strong client relationships, oversee project delivery from design through to construction support, and contribute to the continued growth of our civil structures capability.

The Opportunity

• Lead the planning, analysis and design of bridges and civil structures on medium to large multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality technical outcomes.
• Manage project delivery, including coordinating resources, budgets, technical reviews, design documentation and compliance with quality management processes.
• Provide technical leadership by mentoring team members, reviewing designs, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of the broader civil structures team.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders, representing the team in project meetings while building strong, long-term relationships.
• Undertake site inspections, construction support and supervision activities where required, ensuring designs are effectively delivered during construction.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

• A Bachelor of Engineering with 8+ years' experience delivering bridge and civil structures projects within an Australian consulting environment, along with CPEng (or eligibility for registration).
• Strong knowledge of Australian bridge design standards, MRWA and PTA requirements, with experience delivering projects for MRWA, including ETS/BDS panels. Timber bridge and Level 2 bridge inspection experience will be highly regarded.
• Proven expertise using structural analysis and bridge design software, with experience in packages such as GSA, Strand7, SpaceGass, Midas and/or Autodesk Structural Bridge Design considered advantageous.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor others, manage multidisciplinary teams and clearly communicate complex technical concepts.
• Strong commercial awareness, organisational skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, client-focused engineering solutions while managing competing priorities and project deadlines.
