The Opportunity
In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. This role will be key in achieving our strategic market and client ambitions. We are seeking to appoint a Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist – Europe North to join our MCBD function.
Europe North is one of Arup’s regional geographies, spanning Denmark, Ireland and the Nordic countries. It brings together diverse markets, cultures and technical expertise, connected by a shared strategic direction and close collaboration.
While this role is based in our Copenhagen office, you will be part of a geographically distributed marketing and communications team, working day‑to‑day with colleagues located across Denmark, Ireland and the wider Europe region. Success in the role relies on strong communication skills, confidence working with remote colleagues, and an ability to build relationships across locations and disciplines.
The role
The Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist is a key role dedicated to support the development and delivery of diverse marketing and communications campaigns and initiatives to build brand, engage clients and support winning work. This is a broad, hands‑on role suited to a marketing and communications generalist who enjoys variety, collaboration and working at pace.
You will play an important role in connecting with the local team in Copenhagen, understanding business priorities and strengthening our position in the market.
You will work closely with the Europe North Marketing and Communications Lead and with colleagues across the region. While you will be part of a wider team, you will often take ownership of coordinating activity, campaigns and events from end to end.
Key responsibilities:
Marketing and communications campaigns
- Develop and support the implementation of marketing and communications campaigns to build our brand and support our growth ambitions in Denmark and the Nordic countries.
- Ensure local priorities are understood and incorporated into regional marketing and communications activity.
- Coordinate campaigns focused on key clients and external audiences.
- Prepare and coordinate campaign materials, which may include:
- Written communications and marketing content
- Target client list development
- Social media posts and related content
- Event materials such as run sheets and speaker notes
- Liaise with external suppliers and agencies, and coordinate with specialist teams within MCBD, as required.
- Collate measurement and feedback reports for campaigns to enable ROI assessment, identification of best practice and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Event management
- Coordinate large- and small-scale priority client events (both in-person and virtual), including invitations, RSVP tracking, speaker liaison, logistics, etc.
- Work with suppliers such as venues, caterers and contractors, including brief preparation, cost management and governance processes.
- Support on-the-day delivery of events.
- Prepare post-event reports.
General marketing and communications support
- Support the effective use of industry associations, memberships and sponsorships.
- Coordinate entry to prestigious industry awards and promote award wins internally and externally.
- Coordinate the development of press releases and compelling content on arup.com and across social media channels, particularly LinkedIn.
- Support the use of marketing tools and platforms, including Marketo and CRM.
- Monitor and report on media coverage relevant to Europe North, identifying opportunities and risks, and sharing insights.
- Provide general marketing and communications support.
Is this role right for you?
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as Marketing, Communications, Media, Commerce or similar.
- 5+ years’ experience working in a business environment (experience in professional services is an advantage, but not essential).
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to produce and edit high-quality content.
- Fluent English and Danish required.
- Familiarity with other Scandinavian languages is an advantage.
- Experience developing content across various channels, including social media, website and email marketing.
- Experience working with PR agencies.
- Experience using digital marketing platforms such as CRM systems and Marketo.
- Experience in event coordination.
- A collaborative and inclusive working style, with good listening and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills including confidence in working with leaders and members at all levels, across locations and disciplines.
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of quality.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple ongoing activities.
