Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

The Opportunity

Today, the risks to people, assets and organisations are rapidly evolving. Whether driven by geopolitical uncertainty, climate change, ageing infrastructure or increasing connectivity of the built environment, Arup supports clients in understanding and managing their risks through proportionate, effective and sustainable solutions.

Arup’s Resilience, Security and Risk team includes leading experts in security intelligence, threat and risk advisory, blast and protective design, and physical and electronic security systems. We work across sectors including data centres, aviation, government and critical infrastructure, delivering integrated security solutions within multidisciplinary environments.

We are seeking a capable and motivated Senior Security Consultant / Systems Engineer to join our team. This role is focused on the ownership and delivery of security design packages and systems solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, support the security lead consultant, and engage directly with clients to develop, coordinate and deliver high-quality security solutions aligned with project objectives.

You will play a key role in translating security strategies and risk assessments into practical, buildable designs, while contributing to the technical excellence and consistency of project delivery across the team.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

We'd like to hear from you if:

  • You have proven experience in the design and delivery of security systems within the built environment, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection systems and integration with building systems.
  • You hold a degree in a relevant security, engineering or built environment discipline, or equivalent experience, and are working towards or hold professional membership such as the Security Institute, RSES, ASIS PSP or CSyP.
  • You bring experience working in a multidisciplinary consultancy environment and can coordinate effectively with disciplines such as MEP, ICT, architecture, fire and BMS.
  • You have a strong understanding of physical security measures, including fencing, gates, hostile vehicle mitigation and secure areas, and can translate security strategies and risk assessments into practical, risk-led design solutions.
  • You are confident owning and delivering technical work packages independently, engaging with clients and project stakeholders, coordinating within BIM/Revit environments, and supporting junior team members through review and guidance.
  • Experience across data centres, aviation, government, defence or critical infrastructure would be beneficial.
