Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Centre

Shape a future with purpose at Arup in Germany or Poland.

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Data Centres are crucial components of today’s infrastructure, supporting everything from business to public services. Operators must ensure the longevity, efficiency, and sustainability of their sites while optimizing them for mission-critical tasks. Arup’s international and multidisciplinary team in Frankfurt is at the forefront of designing innovative and energy-efficient data centres, ensuring that our clients meet their goals of performance, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.

The Opportunity

Join our international and multidisciplinary team of passionate design engineers and help us create high-quality, sustainable, and innovative data centre infrastructures. You will work on medium-to-large-scale mission-critical projects, covering all stages of design — from concept to construction supervision and handover.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager at Arup, you will:

  • Lead the design of electrical systems for medium to large-scale mission-critical projects, including MV, LV, and ELV systems, from concept design through construction supervision and handover
  • Own the preparation and review of design deliverables, ensuring technical quality, coordination, compliance, and alignment with client requirements, project objectives, and industry best practice
  • Work closely with data centre clients and multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, advisors, authorities, utilities, and external partners to deliver integrated, high-quality electrical solutions
  • Present technical solutions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, connecting design decisions to wider project goals, client needs, resilience, efficiency, and long-term performance
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues, sharing knowledge across local, regional, and global teams, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing project environment

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for someone passionate about sustainable data centre design. We also value:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or an equivalent discipline, with strong technical knowledge in building services or industrial electrical systems
  • Extensive senior experience designing mission-critical electrical systems for industrial or complex technical facilities, ideally including data centre projects
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design standards and delivery requirements, including relevant German codes, industry standards, and experience with Revit MEP / 3D BIM workflows
  • Proven ability to manage design deliverables, budgets, and priorities, with excellent organisation skills and the ability to coordinate your own work and support the work of others
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with fluent English and ideally German, plus a strong commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation in project delivery
