The role would understand and lead onshore renewable power generation design projects, providing oversight and direction to both the technical team and client either as standalone projects or as part of a larger scope of services, as a technical advisor or owner’s engineer. Role would also support business development and bid activities within their area of expertise.

Working under the direction of the Lead Project Engineer, Technical Expert or Team Lead, the candidate would project manage and lead HV electrical engineering projects from concept through to detailed design for renewables projects (including BESS, solar and wind farms). Transmission and distribution asset knowledge would be beneficial.

The Opportunity:

  • Accountable for the delivery of significant and complex activities or projects. This will require you to be responsible for predicting and planning future resources.
  • The performance, review and development of other professional engineers. This would require you to provide guidance, training, motivation and direction to staff.
  • Managing projects and achieving a successful commercial outcome, meeting project timelines and deliverables, negotiating scope changes, coordinating reviews to ensure zero technical errors and maintaining positive client relationships
  • Supporting the business development team in pursuit of new project opportunities and bidding.

Is this role right for you?

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or similar area.
  • More than 12 years of relevant industry experience in Electrical Engineering within a consulting or business environment.
  • Experience with the design of onshore renewable power assets, including solar PV, wind and BESS.
  • Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines – and Arup’s related procedures including OH&S
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia. Chartered Professional Engineer status or eligibility is desirable.
  • Registration or ability to achieve registration in Victoria (RPEV) and Queensland (RPEQ) is desirable.
  • Actively develops the knowledge, experience and skills of others, including those in other groups/offices.\
