Our team in Spain is growing its strategy and transformation consulting capability to support public and private sector clients in addressing complex challenges across mobility, infrastructure and public services.

We are looking for an experienced consultant to play a key role in delivering high-impact advisory projects, leading workstreams, supporting clients through strategic decision-making and helping shape the growth of our consulting business.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for someone with a background in management consulting, strategy, transformation or programme advisory who enjoys solving complex problems, working across disciplines and translating analysis into actionable recommendations.

The successful candidate will work on complex consulting assignments for transport operators, mobility providers, infrastructure owners, public authorities and government agencies. Projects typically involve strategic planning, business case development, organisational and operational transformation, programme governance, investment decision-making and implementation planning.

This is a hands-on consulting role. We are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with a strong delivery mindset and is comfortable moving between executive discussions and detailed project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Transformation

· Support clients (transport/mobility sector) in addressing strategic, operational and organisational challenges.

· Develop strategic assessments, transformation roadmaps and implementation plans.

· Design future operating models and support organisational change initiatives.

· Facilitate workshops, stakeholder engagement activities and strategic discussions.

· Translate complex challenges into structured recommendations and actionable programmes.

Business Cases & Investment Decisions

· Develop business cases and option assessments for major programmes and initiatives.

· Evaluate strategic, operational and delivery implications of investment decisions.

· Support the prioritisation, sequencing and definition of transformation programmes.

· Integrate technical, operational and commercial considerations into decision-making frameworks.

Project Delivery

· Lead consulting workstreams with a high degree of autonomy.

· Coordinate inputs from multidisciplinary teams across different technical disciplines.

· Manage project planning, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement activities.

· Support the delivery of high-quality reports, presentations and client-facing outputs.

Team & Business Growth

  • Coach and mentor junior consultants.
  • Review and oversee analytical work and deliverables.
  • Support proposal development and business development activities.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Arup's consulting capability in Spain.

Essential Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, transformation, programme advisory or related fields (6-10 years ideal).
  • Demonstrated experience in business case development, transformation programmes, operating model design or strategic planning.
  • Experience leading complex workstreams and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to derive actionable insights from quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Experience preparing executive-level presentations and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in evolving environments.
  • Fluent Spanish and English.

Education & Skills

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, Transport, Urban Planning, Operations, Management or a related discipline.

· A Master's degree (MBA, MSc or equivalent) in Strategy, Business, Economics, Finance, Infrastructure, Mobility, Public Policy or a related field is highly desirable.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including development of analytical models, business cases and executive-level presentations.

· Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, with the ability to identify patterns, extract insights from complex datasets and translate findings into strategic recommendations.

· Experience using data analysis, visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms.

· Familiarity with collaboration, workshop facilitation and problem-solving tools such as Miro, Mural or equivalent.

· Ability to structure large volumes of information from multiple sources and communicate findings clearly to senior stakeholders.

· Experience using AI-enabled productivity, research and analysis tools would be advantageous.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in mobility, transport, infrastructure, energy, utilities or public sector environments.
  • Experience supporting public sector organisations, operators, regulated industries or infrastructure clients.
  • Experience working with international and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with programme governance, implementation planning and investment appraisal approaches
