The Opportunity
Preparing of engineering drawings and modelling activities for the structural team, this includes all aspects of a project from scheme stage to the final details. All documentation produced is to be checked for errors and omissions prior to issuing.
Submit high quality work that is accurate and meets quality standards.
Supporting engineers and BIM Technicians in other teams across multiple projects as and when required.
You will play a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, seeking new ways to increase
our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital
approach to design.
Revit and AutoCAD are mandatory tools for our organisation; thus, you will be expected to be conversant with those and ensure continuous development by using our self-learning tools on SharePoint and/or support
from the team.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for someone with the follwoing:
- Drawing and/or modelling of structural engineering drawings under limited supervision with full autonomy. This includes all aspects of a project from scheme stage to the final construction details. All documentation produced is to be checked for errors and omissions by yourself, prior to going through Arup’s internal review and checking process where appropriate.
- You will ensure that the details and drawings conform to the requirements as specified by the project engineer and any variations noticed are to be reported to him.
- You will be forming part of a CAD team, and you will be expected to deliver drawings for a variety of projects, through the appropriate use of detailing software packages (mainly Revit & AutoCAD).
- You will ensure that the time schedules and deadlines for the production of documentation and drawings are met.
- You will keep accurate records of time spent on projects and administration functions through timesheets system.
- Co-ordinating work with BIM/CAD Technicians and Engineers from other disciplines on a regular basis to ensure drawings are well coordinated prior to issue to external parties such as Clients, QS and Contractors.
- You will be expected to learn and develop your BIM skills, to learn and design in the Revit environment and be fully conversant with BIM principles and fundamentals within a reasonable period of time to ensure that full use is made of the relevant software available.
- You may be placed on site at stages during your employment including overseas projects.
- You will be required to develop your personal skills within a team, fostering good communication and sharing of ideas and knowledge with your team members.
- Demonstrate continuous development in your career.
- Comply with Quality Assurance on projects, HSEQ (Arup Management System) and the Firm’s Policies & Procedures in place.
- Awareness and observation of office procedures and standards, and legislative requirements governing workplace behaviour and standards (e.g. health and safety, sexual harassment, discriminating behaviour, etc.)
