As a Business Development Consultant based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play an important role in supporting the growth of Arup’s business across Malaysia and the Southeast Asia Energy portfolio. Working closely with the Malaysia Business Development Manager and Southeast Asia Energy Business Leader, you will help strengthen client relationships, support strategic pursuits, maintain market intelligence and contribute to opportunity development across the region.
This role sits at the intersection of client engagement, market insight and business growth. You will collaborate with business leaders, technical specialists and clients to help identify opportunities, support winning pursuits and connect clients with the right expertise across Arup’s network. This role offers significant opportunity for professional growth, increasing responsibility and exposure to senior Business & Markets leaders as the Malaysia Business Development function continues to evolve.
The Opportunity
- Support client engagement activities across Malaysia and Southeast Asia, coordinating meetings, workshops, presentations, leadership visits and relationship-building initiatives to strengthen client connections and support business growth.
- Maintain and enhance the quality of CRM records, opportunity pipelines and business development reporting, helping teams manage client information, track opportunities and improve business development discipline across the organisation
- Monitor market developments, industry trends, client activity and emerging opportunities, preparing market intelligence, business insights and briefing materials to support leadership decision-making and strategic planning.
- Coordinate selected bids, tenders, EOIs, capability submissions and strategic pursuits, ensuring effective collaboration across technical teams, timely delivery of submissions and effective pursuit management processes.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across Business & Markets, technical teams, legal, commercial and finance functions to support business planning, client engagement and continuous improvement of business development processes

Is this role right for you?
- Degree qualification in Business, Marketing, Communications, Commerce, Engineering, Built Environment or a related discipline is desirable. Around five years of relevant experience in business development, client engagement, market development, pursuit coordination, marketing or a professional services environment
- Experience supporting client relationships, coordinating business development activities and working across multiple stakeholders and teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare presentations, briefing materials, reports and professional correspondence for senior stakeholders.
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications, combined with strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and a proactive approach to delivering outcomes.
