We are seeking an experienced and market-recognised Associate Director – Civil Engineering to join our Hong Kong Infrastructure business. This leadership role provides an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of major infrastructure projects, strengthen client relationships, grow our market presence, and help shape the future of Hong Kong's infrastructure development.

As a senior leader within our Civil Engineering team, you will combine technical excellence, commercial acumen, and client-facing leadership to deliver transformative projects while driving business growth and developing high-performing teams.

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in leading the technical delivery of major infrastructure projects across Hong Kong, working closely with clients, government agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.

The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic growth of our infrastructure portfolio through strong business development, work-winning activities, and the cultivation of trusted client relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the delivery of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Providing technical leadership across large-scale area development, highways, and civil engineering programmes.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with government authorities, infrastructure agencies, developers, and other key stakeholders.
• Identifying and pursuing strategic business opportunities within the Hong Kong infrastructure market.
• Leading the preparation of compelling proposals, bids, and presentations to secure new work.
• Mentoring and developing multidisciplinary teams, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
• Enhancing Arup's profile and presence within the local infrastructure sector through industry engagement and thought leadership.
• Collaborating with regional and global colleagues to deliver innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Is this role right for you?

We're looking for an established civil engineering leader who brings both deep technical expertise and a strong track record of client engagement and business development.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional institution.
• A minimum of 20 years' post-qualification experience in civil engineering and infrastructure delivery.
• Extensive experience leading major infrastructure projects in Hong Kong.
• Demonstrated expertise in:
o Large-scale area development projects.
o Major highways and transportation infrastructure.
o Complex civil engineering projects.
• Strong client relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven success in business development, proposal preparation, and work winning.
• Experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and market knowledge.

The following would be considered advantageous:

• Significant experience delivering major Government infrastructure projects in Hong Kong.
• Established relationships within the Hong Kong infrastructure and public sector market.
• Experience contributing to business planning and market growth strategies.
