Job Description:
The Senior Manager, Platform Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers focused on the design, implementation, and daily management of ATPCO’s foundational infrastructure. They provide direction on platform architecture, performance optimization, and high-availability solutions. This role is also responsible for developing processes and implementing best practices to ensure platform reliability and security, while collaborating across the organization to meet evolving business needs.


Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead a sizable platform engineering team responsible for the operational management, uptime, reliability, and performance of ATPCO's IBM Mainframe and distributed computing environments.
- Oversee the full technology stack supporting these platforms, including IBM hardware and software systems as well as key third-party tools that keep operations running smoothly and securely.
- Provide strategic leadership for the platform engineering team, ensuring day-to-day operations and long-term investments align with ATPCO's technology roadmap.
- Manage and oversee the platform's budget and vendor contracts, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining the tools and support needed for reliable operations.
- Drive continuous improvement across platform reliability and performance, using industry-standard monitoring and management tools (experience with IBM, BMC, and Site24x7 preferred) to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact the business.
- Develop and champion a roadmap for applying AI to the IBM platform, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and predictive operations.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to introduce automation, strengthen system resilience, and enhance platform security across mainframe and distributed environments.
- Mentor and guide engineers, building deep technical expertise on the team while fostering a high-performance, service-oriented culture.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to balance operational stability with innovation, ensuring platform infrastructure investments support ATPCO's strategic goals and customer demands.
- Serve as an escalation point for critical platform issues, ensuring rapid response and clear communication during incidents affecting uptime or performance.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $188,022 – $215,633
