WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The AMER Client Risk team supports Bain’s “Proceed with Pride” client selection and acceptance process. Developed in collaboration with Industry and Capability Practice Areas, this process guides client selection decisions and ensures Bain can stand behind the work it takes on. Regional Risk Officers (RROs), experienced Advisory Partners, lead Regional Risk teams and work closely with senior leadership including the Chief Risk Officer and Bain’s Board.
You will collaborate with Partners, Practice leaders, Legal, PR, and leadership across regions, supporting interactions with the Regional Managing Partner (RMP) and Bain’s Board Risk Sub-Committee.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
In this role, you will support the Americas Risk team to shape and execute the region’s approach to client selection and acceptance. You will act as a key driver of both strategic thinking and operational execution across risk efforts, helping ensure Bain can Proceed with Pride while enabling responsible growth.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
AMER Client Selection and Acceptance Process
- Lead and manage end-to-end risk assessments across the AMER opportunity pipeline, identifying higher risk cases flagged by guidelines, including work in regulated and reputationally sensitive sectors. Support in-depth discussions with Partners on client context, strategy, reputational considerations, and risk trade-offs. Conduct research, frame key questions, and coordinate input from Legal, PR, and internal experts. Summarize decisions and mitigation plans, monitor implementation, and evaluate outcomes.
Risk Awareness, Education & Engagement
- Own and produce reporting on client risk and reputational themes across AMER, highlighting strategic implications and external drivers. Design and develop briefing materials and coordinate leadership updates for senior stakeholders. Support engagement with Practice Area Managers to build awareness, surface risks, and strengthen consistent decision-making across the region.
Team Enablement & Innovation
- Support initiatives to evolve the team’s mission, including leveraging AI to automate processes and improve insight generation. Refine frameworks and guidelines to remain effective in a changing environment. Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, collaboration, and overall team impact.
ABOUT YOU
Experience
- 1–2 years of professional experience in consulting, corporate, legal, audit, risk, or a similar field. Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and anticipate risks. Experience engaging with stakeholders and communicating effectively, including with senior leaders. Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage detailed processes while maintaining accuracy.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Passion for ethical leadership and helping guide client selection decisions. Interest in current affairs and geopolitical dynamics and their implications for client strategy and reputational risk. Collaborative, service-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving ability and pragmatic judgment. Clear and impactful communication skills, both written and verbal. Tech-savvy with openness to using AI tools and new technologies. Preferred fluency in Portuguese or Spanish.
U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
In Illinois, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $70,000 - $84,000
In Massachusetts and Washington DC, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $73,000 - $88,000
In Texas, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $67,000 - $80,000
In Georgia, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $64,000 - $76,000
Annual discretionary performance bonus
This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
