WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times.

Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As the premier consulting partner for the private equity industry, Bain's PEG boasts a global practice that is over three times larger than any competitor. Our network of over 1,000 professionals supports private equity and institutional investor clients through every stage of the investment life cycle, from deal generation and due diligence to portfolio value creation and exit planning.

Bain & Company is developing a suite of cutting-edge data and software solutions designed to revolutionize how the private equity industry uses data for investment insights and decision-making.

The PEG Innovation team's mission is to create analytical solutions for Bain clients, teams, and the broader institutional investor space using proprietary software and data products. This includes the development, commercialization, and daily management of Bain's proprietary datasets, data, and software businesses.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

Product Owners own the delivery outcomes for a product area on the PE due diligence platform. You are accountable for converting stakeholder needs into an executable roadmap and backlog, defining success metrics, and ensuring the squad ships high-quality capabilities that improve PE analyst workflows. You operate as the day-to-day product leader for your squad: leading discovery, prioritising ruthlessly, clarifying requirements, managing dependencies, and partnering with Engineering and Design to deliver iteratively. You work closely with Platform Engineering, Data Platform, and the Agent / AI squad where shared services and intelligent features are involved, ensuring contracts, quality expectations, and operational readiness are built in from the start.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Roadmap, Discovery, and Squad Delivery Leadership (80%)

  • Own the roadmap and backlog for an assigned product area (e.g., Deal Screening, Due Diligence workflows, Portfolio Monitoring, Report Builder); define outcomes, milestones, and sequencing.
  • Lead continuous discovery with stakeholders (analysts, associates, partners): identify high-value problems, validate hypotheses, and translate insights into delivery work.
  • Write and maintain epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria to a standard that enables autonomous squad delivery; ensure work is testable, measurable, and aligned to user outcomes.
  • Define success metrics and instrumentation requirements for features; ensure releases have clear baselines and post-release measurement plans.
  • Make prioritisation trade-offs across scope, quality, risk, and time; ensure the squad focuses on the highest-impact outcomes.
  • Partner with Engineering to shape feasible technical approaches and manage dependencies (platform services, data contracts, AI service integration).
  • Partner with Design to ensure UX quality, accessibility, and edge-case handling are addressed early; align on iterative delivery plans.
  • Own release readiness for your scope: stakeholder communications, enablement/training materials, change notes, and rollout strategy.
  • Drive post-release learning: analyse adoption and performance, run outcome reviews, and iterate based on evidence.

Other (20%)

  • Own squad ceremonies from a product perspective: refinement, planning input, review facilitation, and outcome-focused retrospectives.
  • Act as the primary interface for your product area to cross-functional partners (Security, Data Governance, Platform Engineering, Data Platform, Agent / AI); align on requirements and constraints early.
  • Establish and maintain a clear Definition of Done for product outcomes with Engineering and QA (quality, observability, documentation, operational readiness).
  • Use AI tooling to accelerate PRD drafting, stakeholder synthesis, and prioritisation artifacts; apply editorial judgement and validate facts before sharing.
  • Support hiring/interviewing and mentoring of Product Analysts/Associate PMs where applicable; raise product practice standards through coaching and feedback.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, consulting, or product strategy roles delivering software products in production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a backlog and leading cross-functional delivery (Product/Design/Engineering), including prioritisation and dependency management.
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into well-scoped epics/stories with measurable outcomes and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience using data to inform product decisions: defining KPIs, interpreting dashboards, and driving iteration based on evidence.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills; able to communicate trade-offs, progress, and outcomes to senior business leaders.

Product Ownership / Product Management

  • Outcome-driven roadmap ownership: sets OKRs/success metrics, sequences work pragmatically, and maintains focus on measurable impact.
  • Requirements excellence: produces clear PRDs/stories/acceptance criteria; anticipates edge cases and ensures testability.
  • Prioritisation discipline: makes trade-offs explicitly; balances user value, delivery risk, quality, and operational considerations.
  • Cross-functional leadership: aligns Engineering, Design, Data Platform, and Platform teams; manages dependencies without surprise work.
  • Product analytics: comfortable with KPI design, adoption measurement, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative signals to drive decisions.
  • Communication: concise, structured executive updates; clear decision logs; strong facilitation of stakeholder discussions.

Generative AI and Agentic Systems:

  • Understands the user-facing implications of AI features (non-determinism, latency, context limits, hallucination risk) and bakes constraints into requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Partners with the Agent / AI squad to define evaluation-ready requirements (golden scenarios, quality thresholds, HITL needs) and ensures regression gates exist for changes.
  • Uses AI tooling to accelerate PRDs, OKRs, prioritisation drafts, and stakeholder communications; validates accuracy and removes speculation before sharing.
  • Ensures AI features meet safety and data-handling requirements (PII handling, auditability, egress constraints) by coordinating early with Security and Governance.

General

  • Builds for users: deeply understands PE workflows and optimises for real analyst outcomes, not internal convenience.
  • Leads with clarity: reduces ambiguity for squads through crisp requirements, priorities, and success metrics.
  • Drives follow-through: measures results post-release and iterates based on evidence.
  • Uses AI tooling to move faster, but applies judgement and accountability for every decision and artifact shared.
  • This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 1 day per week
