ABOUT US:

Bain & Company is a global consultancy that helps the world’s most ambitious change-makers define the future. Across 65 offices in 40 countries, we work alongside our clients as one team with a shared ambition to achieve extraordinary results, outperform the competition, and redefine industries. Since our founding in 1973, we have measured our success by the success of our clients, and we proudly maintain the highest level of client advocacy in the industry.

In 2004, the firm established its presence in the Indian market by opening the Bain Capability Center (BCC) in New Delhi. The BCC is now known as BCN (Bain Capability Network) with its nodes across various geographies. Expert Client Delivery (ECD) is an integral unit of BCN. ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bain's case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutions across all industries, specific domains for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence, and Bain intellectual property.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:

This is an opportunity to be part of Bain’s Capital Projects Center of Expertise (CoE), based out of the Gurugram office, specifically supporting Bain’s Capital Projects & Infrastructure practice on live cases, client development and proposal support. The Capital Projects CoE works across major capital programs spanning energy, infrastructure, transport, oil & gas, power & utilities, mining and large industrial build-outs.

As part of the Capital Projects team, you will get exposed to case delivery and client development activities for clients executing large, complex capital programs. The primary objective is to collaborate with practice and case teams on the development and deployment of project-controls, PMO and digital capabilities that answer strategic questions for Bain’s capital-intensive clients — from project setup and assurance through delivery and turnaround.

An Associate works as a team member / contributor on BCN cases, driving the analysis on complex cases with some direction from a Project Leader and occasionally leading simple cases independently. In addition, Associates help mentor and coach Analysts by providing regular guidance / feedback and progressively take on greater ownership of workstreams.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Day-to-day management of 2-3 team members
  • Lead a small team of Analysts and Jr. Associates, owning day-to-day delivery with limited PL/Manager oversight
  • Understand and translate the client's context and business problem into a clear, prioritized work plan
  • Create the work plan, provide guidance to junior team members, and review outputs to ensure high-quality delivery to clients
  • Anticipate roadblocks, resolve them at source, and escalate early when needed
  • Program governance & PMO operations
  • Design and stand up PMO operating models — stage-gate governance, change control, RACI, decision logs, escalation paths — and assess the robustness of a client's existing setup
  • Build and interrogate the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS): run critical-path, what-if, and schedule-compression analyses that underpin recommendations
  • Cost & performance controls
  • Build cost-control and Earned Value analyses (budget phasing, CPI/SPI, forecast-at-completion, variance) to pinpoint where a program is over budget or behind schedule
  • Create executive-ready dashboards that give client leadership a decision-grade view of project health
  • Risk & safety management
  • Build the analytical backbone for risk reviews — risk registers, quantified mitigations, contingency strategies — and turn findings into recommendations the team can land with the client
  • Digital & advanced analytics
  • Shape the digital roadmap and success metrics for client programs, including 5D BIM (cost + schedule) and model-based quantity management
  • Apply advanced scheduling and risk analytics — constraint-based planning, scenario simulation, Monte Carlo — to quantify outcomes and de-risk recommendations
  • Build Power BI / Tableau control towers and pilot AI tools that speed delivery and leave the client with reusable assets

ABOUT YOU:

  • Relevant experience of 2-5 years for undergraduates and 0-3 years for postgraduates from a top-tier college with a strong academic record and 3-4 years of relevant experience in capital projects, project controls, PMO or management consulting
  • PMP® certification or active progress toward it is an advantage (not mandatory at this level)
  • Hands-on with at least 2–3 of: Project controls, P6/MS Project, Power BI/Tableau, BIM (Navisworks/Revit/Synchro), EVM, ALICE – Generative Scheduling, AI tools
  • Strong analytical, MS Office, communication, problem-solving, and team-player skills; able to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
