The Discovery Programme is designed for students to experience what it means to be at Barclays firsthand. Through interactive sessions, students gain exposure to the industry, develop professional skills, and build connections with Barclays employees.

This programme is tailored for high-achieving students who want to explore the impact they can make in a global investment bank. It’s a perfect stepping stone to our 10-week internship as you can be assessed for Summer Internships in 2027 before anyone else.


Investment Banking

Working on a broad range of corporate clients, our bankers deliver holistic, structured solutions that help our clients deliver on their goals; whether that’s through mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt origination, loans, capital raising, structured solutions or risk management.

What you can expect


Part 1: Tuesday, 17th March 2026

  • In-person programme
  • Join seminars and workshops, where you’ll learn about financial services, your chosen business area, the recruitment process and Barclays as an employer
  • Participate in specific breakout sessions for your business area, where you'll gain insights of what you can expect from the Summer Internship in 2027
  • Build your understanding of the assessment process and next steps
  • Connect with people from across our business, including current graduates who have already made the journey that you are starting out on
  • Attend dedicated networking sessions with senior leaders and graduates aligned to your chosen business area


Part 2: Multiple dates during the first two weeks of April (dates will be shared if you are shortlisted)

  • You can be assessed for the 2027 Summer Internship by taking part in a series of interviews


What we look for

  • You are graduating between December 2027 and June 2028
  • You have a GPA of 3.2 or above
  • You can be studying any degree discipline
  • You are curious to understand how a global bank adapts in a constantly evolving environment

Purpose of the role

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the investment banking division. Gain broad exposure to different types of clients, transactions and focus on specialist areas.

Accountabilities

  • Collaboration on live deals, client pitches, support the team with advising on a broad range of corporate clients,. delivering holistic, structured solutions to deliver on client goals.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participation in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for investment banking.
  • Management of client relationships and provision of customer service support to clients and customers, under steadily decreasing supervision, responding to questions about products and services, processing of transactions.
  • Development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support in decision making in investment banking. Understand how businesses work and learn from experts in the industry.
