Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide visible, senior-level leadership for CSO across the region.
  • Oversee physical security operations at key sites across India.
  • Manage and coordinate closely with Corporate Real Estate Services (CRES), Human Resources, and Compliance at each location, navigating operating and regulatory environments.
  • Provide expert guidance on applicable regulatory and compliance requirements related to physical security.
  • Managing specialist security services to support the bank’s regional footprint, including site-level security oversight, execution of physical security risk assessments, alignment of security objectives, and contractor management to evaluate the effectiveness of existing physical controls.
  • Implementing security policies and standards to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of physical security operations and controls, including those protecting the bank’s facilities, systems, applications, and networks.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive risk management strategies to identify and mitigate physical security risks (including access control, fire, and natural hazards) and ensuring appropriate security controls and colleague training are in place.
  • Developing, maintaining, and testing crisis management and senior site leads contingency plans for the bank’s facilities, including simulation exercises to validate coordinated responses with internal and external stakeholders during crisis events.
  • Managing key stakeholder relationships, including CEO India and senior managers, vendors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure security operations remain aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives.

Purpose of the role

To develop risk management strategies that support the protection of the bank's regional sites against a range of variables.

Accountabilities

  • Management of specialist security services to support the bank’s regions through site level security oversight activities including the execution of security risk assessments and the alignment of security objectives, contractor management to review the effectiveness of existing physical controls.
  • Implementation of security policies to ensure the effectiveness of existing security operations and controls such as the bank's systems, applications and networks.
  • Development and implementation of risk management strategies to identify and mitigate physical security risks, including access, fire and natural disasters, and implement security controls and provide training to colleagues to mitigate those risk.
  • Development of crisis management and contingency plans for the bank's facilities, evaluated through simulations, to demonstrate how colleagues should coordinate with stakeholders during a crisis.
  • Management of stakeholder relationship including colleagues, vendors and regulatory agencies to algin security operations with the bank's objectives.

Director Expectations

  • To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..
  • They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
