Join us as an “ Quant Developer Analyst” at Barclays, Liquid Financing is a global business that provides clients with a range of prime brokerage, execution, financing and clearing services including cross-asset class offerings for financing, clearing and execution globally.
To be a successful “ Quant Developer Analyst” Integrated into our broader Investment Bank product offering, our prime brokerage services include equities and fixed income financing, portfolio swaps and is complemented by access to our Prime Derivatives Services (OTC Clearing, Futures and Foreign Exchange Prime Brokerage) and to our Capital Solutions team.
You may be assessed on the key critical skills where the role holder needs to ensure all the projects completed by the teams in Mumbai, fit with the strategic architecture, technology and data models used by the EFG businesses. The role also demands to focus on design and architecture of current business infrastructure, interact with various trading, sales & funding desks & IT teams globally to identify the optimal use for centralized data warehouse and take a lead in consolidation and implementation of a comprehensive MIS solution for the business.
Basic/ Essential Qualifications:
- Manage and understand Quant models such as Client Billing, Invoicing, Client PnL, Internal Transfer Pricing, and Funding Models. Be capable of troubleshooting these models, addressing trader queries on report variances, and enhancing existing reports.
- Initially spend time with the team lead to understand Securities Lending & Equity Swap business flow/ Systems involved / Product details.
- Facilitate building of various models/strategic applications on Data Science Platform (Hadoop)
- Work closely with the DSP team and identify opportunities to leverage Data Science Platform (DSP) platform for electronification needs of the business.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Python programming language.
- Utilize your expertise in Linux environments to deploy and manage application effectively.
- Leverage your knowledge of Hadoop to develop scalable and efficient data processing pipelines.
- Design and optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure smooth operation of software applications.
- Oversee and manage the future state of desk’s MIS suite and the corresponding data architecture by actively prioritizing efforts within the team and liaising with product, IT and quant teams. Get hands on with database Analytics and UI using tools like Tableau /Qlikview/Python/SQL.
- Ensure cross training and knowledge transfer within the team.
Desirable skillsets/ good to have:
- Engineering Graduate in Computer Science /IT, Masters preferred.
- Proven experience as a Python Developer, with a strong understanding of Python programming language and its ecosystem.
- Proficient in Linux operating system and shell scripting.
- Solid understanding of Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS and Spark.
- Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write complex queries and optimize database performance.
- Working experience with Angular or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complicated issues to management and other impacted areas and ensure timely resolution of issues and breaches.
- Highly analytical and numerate with exceptional problem solving abilities.
- Should be able to understand/ structure complex flows in business resulting in PnL loss or risks.
- Well organised with good time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise tasks.
- Able to work effectively as part of a large team.
- Able to multi-task and prioritise accordingly in a highly pressurised environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge on Financing products like Securities Lending, Equity Derivatives, Cash Prime Broker platform and Repo Financing
- Familiarity with version control systems (eg. GIT) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Jira to track project tasks, user stories etc and Confluence for documentation.
- Preferred Knowledge of BI tools like Qlikview, Tableau or Power BI.
- Confident in dealing with groups outside of immediate team (Sales, Trading, Product Control, Credit, Legal).
- Ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels including interacting effectively with other key areas within the bank e.g. IT, MO, FO, Ops Control.
- Detailed and meticulous, consistently delivering a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with high quality output.
This role will be based out of Mumbai.
Purpose of the role
Liquid Finance Platform covers a variety of roles and is central to the delivery of best-in-class products and services, and for the provision of strategic client and risk solutions across the full spectrum of the Prime Financing businesses.
Accountabilities
- Working with clients to optimise the Liquid Financing relationship
- Provide best-in-class service and escalation oversight
- Primary contact for Liquid Financing clients in areas such as trading, risk, billing and reporting
- Provide expertise on industry and regulatory initiatives
- Subject matter expert for our clients, with a deep understanding of each client’s business mix, operational requirements and product sensitivities
